June 7 (U.R) A leading nuclear scientist said to day it was probable that Soviet scientists will develop the hy drogen bomb first, and that Rus sia may be able to amass an atomic bomb stockpile by the summer of 1951. Harrison Brown, now a pro fessor at the University of Chi cago's Institute for Nuclear stud ies and former assistant director of chemistry at Oak Ridge, said that "One cannot keep a secret of nature from a man who knows the proper questions to ask and how to answer them." Aid Discounted Writing in the quarterly, The American Scholar, Brown dis counted the aid given to Soviet atomic bomb development by the turncoat British scientist Dr. Klaus Fuchs. "It is probable that the Rus sians, solely by asking the prop er questions of nature, would have developed the bomb any way. "And we can expect that the Soviet production of bombs is being pushed forward today with all possible rapidity," Brown said. "Indeed, it is quite possible that by the summer of 1951 Russia may have developed a sufficient number of bombs of the present type to enable her to destroy completely the major cities of western Europe should she feel compelled to do so." President Truman's decision for the atomic energy commis Assembly of God to Build New Church The Rev. J. S. Manchester, pastor of the Medford Assembly ot God church, announced today that the church has purchased four lots at West Main and Quince streets will will be the site of a new church to replace the one now in use at 11 New town street. Together with property al ready owned at the West Main location the new acquisition gives the church title to more than one acre of land to be used for the new structure. Construc tion is due to start within the near future, the Rev. Mr. Man chester said. He said the building would be built partly by donated labor, and when completed would be one of the most modern in de sien on the west coast. He ex pects there will be space for the addition of a Bible college eventually. Final estimates of the cost of the project have not been made.
