Sal Scheduled An apron and cooked food sale will be held at the Eagles hall, 217 West Main street, on Friday. May 12, by the relief society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Car Fire City firemen were called to Sixth and Bartlett streets at 4:20 p.m. yesterday where a car owned by Sylvia Lloyd. 331 West Sixth street had caught fire. Damage was small. From Hospital Mrs. Harlan Levtzow was released from Osteopathic hospital yesterday to return to her home in Pros pect, following recovery from appendectomy. . Recovering Miss Anna Carl son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Carlson, Eagle Point, who was stricken with polio early this spring, is convalescing nice ly at her home, according to re ports. Miss Carlson is now able to be up in a wheel chair a few hours at a time. School Planned A school to train lookouts and forest fire wardens who will work in state forests this summer will be held May 22, 23 and 24 at the state forest patrol station, Table Rock road. Posse-Troop Drill Because of Mother's day, Sunday, May 14, Jackson County Mounted Sher iffs' and Ladies' Mounted troop drill teams will meet for prac tice at 5 p. m. that day instead of 10 a. m., at the poose grounds on Ross lane. Rummage Sale Members of Rotana club will, hold a rum mage sale Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Crater Lake Motors show room. This is the first such sale ever held by the club, members point out, and all proceeds will be used for the service projects of Rotana. To Coos Bay Ray Larsen. commercial teller at Medford branch, First National bank, left this week for Coos Bay where he has been transferred to the bank's branch there in the same capacity. Lester Coleman, from the local bank, who has been there temporarily as commercial teller, returned this week. From Portland Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hobart and infant daugh ter, Caroline. Portland, are vis iting with Mr. and Mrs. William J. Peek, 215 Saginaw drive. Caroline is Peek's granddaughter and Mrs. Hobart is his daughter. The visitors, who arrived by plane, plan to spend a week here. From California Mrs. Signe Lonnstrom, Glendalc. Cal., spent several days here this week vis iting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Halgren, 315 Portland avenue, and her nephew and family, the Roy A. Halgrens, 1825 Orchard Home court. From here Mrs. Linnstrom left for Tacoma, Wash., to visit before returning to her home in Virginia, Minn. From Corvallis Mrs. Lillian E. Crawford, Corvallis. a former resident, who was recently con fined to a Sweet Home hospital, came here during the week with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Crawford. 1128 West Main street, who had been at Sweet Home with Mrs. Craw ford. She will remain with the Crawfords indefinitely. She is reported to be improved and in vites old friends to call. Contest To Raise Funds for Bigger Ambulance Motors Mercy Flights Inc., operators of Jackson county's non-profit air ambulance, today announced the opening of a contest to raise $1,200 for the purchase of more powerful engines for the air croft. The plane, which has taken a number ill or injured persons to Portland hospitals for emer gency treatment, is in good ccn dition, the group said, but pilots feel that additional power for the ship would give an extra margin of safciy and servio which the unique project should have. Prize to be awarded to the contest winner will be a free round-trip to Portland for two persons via West Coast airlines. Contest Rules Told Here is the way the contest works: Those who mail a donation of $1 or more to Mercy Flights Inc., P. O. Box 522, Medford, may make a rcquc-.t for a selection to be plaved over one of two KYJC programs Platter Party from 11 p.m. to 12 midnight each day.
