The library of congress, cus todian of the historic documents, claims the threat of drying and insect damage will disappear with use of gas. The five pages of the constitu tion and the single paged decla ration of independence, whose extensive travels have contrib uted to their deterioration, will be sealed inside a glass container tilled with an inert gas, probably helium. An inert gas is free of chemical reaction. The bureau of standards, work ing two years tosperfect the case, reports that a gauge will be at tached to show any leaks and to assure proper temperature.
