TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) Tornado In Track Medford high school tlilncluds unleashed their might on Grants Pass for ths tecond time thla season to eop an 80 Vi to 40 V4 trhimph in a Southern Oregon conference dual track meet at Grants Pass yesterday afternoon The Black Tornado cindermen spurted into the lead In the first event and were never behind. Medford headed IB to 2 after two events but the count was nar rowed to 10 to 8 on the third. Medford then swept the shot put to sain a 28 to 8 margin. The count went 32 to 13 after the quarter mile. 10 Points Separata Grants Pans squeezed the dif ference to 32'a to 21' with eight and one-half points In the high Jump, the siNth event, but could not come that close again to Medford. In addition to the shot put, Medford also swept all points in the low hurdles and 220-yard dash. Medford took nine firsts altogether and 10 seconds. Buckingham) Kiwanis Club Helps Relays Annual Rogue relays, consid ered everywhere in Oregon as the big test among class A high schools for top point men in the Wayward relays, roceived a shot in the arm last week when it was learned Unit the Medford Kl wsnis club will donate a trophy. Ron Rice, local club secretary, said Saturday that the club al ready has a trophy on hand and that it was being engraved at a lora! lewclry store. The award will go to the school winning first place. Four teams will be entered this week Saturday, April 15, when the events start at the Medford high field. In addition to the Black Tornado there will be Grants Pass, Ashland and Klamath Falls. Motorcycles Race Slated Plans for a -ti-mile flat track motorcycle race at the Vallev View track north of Ashland oh Sunday, April 30, were an nounced Saturday by Rogue Riv er Ramblers Motorcycle club, which will sponsor the event. Officers said the race has been sanctioned by the American Mo- tnrcycla association of Colum bus, O. The track near Ashland is con sidered the hest in Oregon by the broadsliders as its surface is granite and usually is free of dust, local officers in charge said. R Eagle Point high's baseball team wrapped up its first Jackson Douglas - Josephine county con ference baseball game of the sea son here Saturday afternoon by defeating Sutherlin high 15 to 7 in seven innings. Doherty and Chamberlain on the mound for the Eagles limited Sutherlin to four hits but wlld ncss on the part of Doherty plus some timely hits produced runs for the visitors. Chamberlain pitched to one man in the seventh and final inning. Mulhollcn and Forrester rapped out two base hits and each got three I safe blows in four trips to lead Eagle Point in hitting. The 1949 chamn toppled when Jack Lewis nicked Ivan Harring ton 1 up. Both played good games. Harrington shot a nice 75 for the round but had to con cede Lewis four strokes. In other matches of the handicap tourney Bayard Getchell down ed Ed Nichols ana is: Bruce Stanley tripped Norm Worthley 1 up and Max Peirce got by Frank Perl 1 up. It will be Getchell versus Stanley and Lewis against Poirce In the semi-finals next week. Apr. 8 Southern Oregon college baseball team witli two non-conference victor ies under its belt, today looked forward to its Far Western con ference opener against Chico State college at the Central Point field Saturday, April 16. The Red Raiders walloped Oregon Tech in a doubleheader last Friday afternoon 10 to 3 in the first game and 28 to 2 in the second played at Central Point's park. SOC rapped out 10 hits to five for OTI in the opener but committed two misplays to three for the visitors. The second game saw the Raiders make but 13 safeties and two misplays while SOC pitchers held OTI to three hits and Oregon Tech committed four errors. Tex Gatlln anf" Pinkham pitched for SOC in the first game with Gene Farthing catch ing.
