TEN MEDFORD MAIL-TRIBUNE Wednesday, Dec 19, 1945 Your Health and It's Care By OR. WILLIAM BRADY M.O. Readers should addret. inquinaa lo: Dr William Brady. 265 CI Camino Bavarly Hillt Caiii. IODINE AND A good dentist is worthy of his hire. That is, I think so. I'd much rather pay the dentist $200 to li 11 a loom, even if it may last only a year or two, than pay him $10 to extract it. I have a high regard for the value of teeth. At the very mini mum a sound tooth or a K' jfiijftUi&H) tooth in a good Dr Brady state of repair Is worth $1000, in my opinion. So, I say, the good dentist is worthy Of his hire. Eugene Talbot, M.D., D.D.S., still recognized as an authority on oral pathology by the den tists, advocoated careful applica tions of iodine-iodide medica ments to the gums by the den tist in the treatment of pyor rhea. The same excellent au thority advocated the applica tion of a similar solution to the gums and other surfaces in the mouth of the child, at monthly Intervals, to prevent tooth de cay, or such an application a few minutes before any tonsil or mouth operation. The formula Talbot published (JAMA April 2, '10) is too strong for any one other than physician or dentist I to attempt to use. But Diluted Talbot's Solution, glycerite of Iodine and zinc iodide, as In the National Formulary, is suitable for the patient to use as Instruc ted by physician or dentist. Speaking merely as a bull In the ch I mean as a doctor, I be- llcve the use of Talbot's solution or some modification of it, io dine In form or another, is a valuable aid in the treatment of most cases of pyorrhea. But only an aid, or shall we say Incliien-1 fal treatment. Correction' of nu-i VULTEE STRIKE FAVORED San Diego, Cal., Dec. 19 U.R) A . national labor relations board vote showed 77.2 per cent of 3720 employes In fnvor of a walkout at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp., it was revealed today. Women whose education has been so sadly neglected may learn something lo their advantage by rending Or. Grontly Dick Head's "Childbirth Without Fear" published by Harpers. '44. A woman who can still roll a half dozen somersaults and come up on her feet smiling and un ruffled, do a running jump over barrel or run around the block at her own pace Is young enough to have a baby. Too many women whose education has been sadly neglected are too old at thirty to bear a cnua without kicking up all possible com plications. It Is physiological, not chronological age tnnt mailers. Massive noses of Vitamin D One friend says 50,000 units of vitamin L In capsule, four times day is beneficial for rheumatism or almost any chronic sickness. Other friend says such massive doses are injurious to liver ana Kidneys. (Mrs. L. J.) Answer I doubt that 200.000 units a dav over a period of three to six months, ever does any harm. On the other hand, 1 have come to believe that merely an opiuimi nuiriuonai amount of vitamin 1) dully, of course combined with calcium, will give as much relief In various complalnta called chronic rheumatism as mas sive doll's of vllnmln U alone can give. Kor pamphlet "Calcium and Itheumntix" send stamped self addres sed envelope. Ask for It In writing. A clipping will not do. Poliomyelitis and Marriage Intend to marry girl who had In fantile paralysis In childhood. She Is strong and healthy today and has no apparent physical weakness or de fect.
