U-Come - All-Come - Wei-Come IS DISMISSED BY ACTION OF COURT An order dismissing Mrs. La cille Kennedy as trustee of the estate of Buren C. Kennedy, a missing person" was signed in probate court yesterday by Judge J. B. Coleman. Kennedy, a pri soner in a Japanese camp near Shanghai was recently liberated and has returned. He was a workman on Wake island when it was captured by the Japanese, and was officially adjudged "a missing person" by the govern ment, August 10, 1942. Nothing was heard from Kennedy dur ing his captivity, and his fate was in doubt. The Kennedys lived on a farm near the town of Rogue River, and several months ago Mrs. Kennedy, employed by the Southern Pacific here, sold the place for $2500, after her ap pointment as trustee. Kennedy was one of many Jackson and Josephine county residents em ployed in building air bases In the Pacific. Kennedy returned recently and filed a petition setting forth that his wife, as trustee of the estate had given a full account ing, and asked that she be dis missed as trustee. A "courtesy interest" in the estate was duly set aside for Kennedy, as the law provides. Attorney Otto Frohnmeyer represented the Kennedys In the action.. Air Line Exnansion Plan Hurry! G.I.s W atch Draft Board Gag On Army's K Ration Jersey City, N.- J., Oct. 26 (U.R) Local draft board No. 16 agreed today after eating army rations that war is hell unless your cousin is the company cook. The board members dined last night on army "K" and "C" ra tions at Jersey City's Belford Inn, at the invitation of six for mer draftees, most of the "draft ers" were gagging before the dinner was through. Their hosts watched and laugh ed. "Boy, is this fun," said Ex-Cpl. James De Lorenzo. He was watching a bald-headed man slowly choke on a hunk of cheese. That's Joe Michalski," Delo renzo said. "He's secretary of this draft board, chum. Yeah, the same outfit that sent me tramp ing for three years overseas with the fifth army." Michalski was game. He clutched the box of "K" rations with one hand, while he poked grimly at his cheese with the other. Eight affiliates of No. 16, including three doctors' and a woman clerk, sat glumly beside him. Some ate, and some just sighed. Dr. Jerome Paterno was the only man that the ex-doughs couldn't push over. He ate two boxes of "K" rations, and at least two cans of the greasy "C". 'Why, boys, I don't think the stuff is bad at all," he said. "Come on, give me another por tion." They heaped it on, and Paterno calmly downed it. "Gee, Doc," Pat Spaldo said, "you would have made one helluva good soldier." When the last scrap of rations had disappeared, and some of the draft board boys had recovered their breath, everybody shook hands. The banquet was over. "Where's Paterno?" someone asked. He was In that place marked "men." They claimed they found the good doctor holding up the door. Lee Stidd.
