SOCIETY and CLUBS University Sets Rush Week Date For September 9 Plans for the annual fall term "rush week" at the University of Oregon are being completed in Eugene this month by Mrs Golda Parker Wickham, acting dean of women at the univer sity, who has announced that rushing will begin on the cam pus Sunday, Sept. 9. All girls planning to take part in the rush ing period are asked to send ap plications to the dean by Aug. 25. Rushees will be housed this this year in the dormitories, and B ice ib uuiug uiuuu iv de fray costs of room and board and the Panhellenic fee, Mrs. Wick ham states. The traditional "open house" will open rush week, with all rushees visiting each sorority house in supervised groups. Preferential dating starts Mon day, Sept- 10, and continues through Tuesday and Wednes day with a final preference din ner planned for Thursday night. Sorority rushing in Medford this summer has been informal. An organized Panhellenic tea, at which representatives of all na tional sororities on the Univer sity of Oregon campus will be present, is being held in Port land today. Sewing Group Meets Thursday Mrs. Geogre Frey entertained 28 members of the Nile Sewing club at her home, 820 E. Main street, Thursday when the group met for a covered dish luncheon at noon, followed by an after noon of sewing. The annual pro ject of sewing clothing for the Shrine crippled children's hospi tal in Portland has been started. Next meeting of the club will be held in two weeks, at a place to be announced later, and all members of the Daughters of the Nile are invited to attend. Ncuman Family Returns To Make Horn In City Mr. and Mrs. Lee Neuman, former Medford residents who moved to Bingen, Wash., a year ago, have returned to Medford with their four children and plan to make their home here. Mr. Ncuman was formerly with the Swift company in Medford, and I will be employed by the System Freight company now. Get-Together Memberi' Annual Picnic Aug- 12 The annual picnic for mem bers and friends of the Get-Together club will be held Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Girl Scout day camp site on Bear creek. Those who desire transportation are asked to meet at the city park at 4 p. m. The club will fur nish ice cream, coffee and cream. Daughters of Nil To Assist Red Cross Members of the Daughters of the Nile are reminded today by officers of the local temple that they are to cut and sew Red Cross materials at the Jackson county courthouse Wednesduy. Talent Grange Plans Ashland Picnic Today Among picnics being held in Ashland's Lithia park today will be that of the Talent Grangers, who will meet for dinner at 1 p. m. in the upper picnic grounds, above the park store. Those in charge state that markers will be placed at various places to direct the way to the grounds Entertainment has been planned for the afternoon. Former Kansas People. Picnicing In Ashland The annual picnic for former residents of Kansas living or visiting in the valley, and their families, will be held today in upper Lithia park, Ashland. Din ner is planned for 1 p. m., and officers of the local Kansas group urge all who have lived in Kansas at any time to attend. Each family is asked to bring a picnic lunch. Wisconsin Residents Planning Picnic Today All former residents of Wis consin, visitors and their fam ilies, are invited to attend the annual Wisconsin picnic being held in Lithia park at Ashland today. Each family is asked to bring table service and a picnic dinner, to be served at 1 p. m. Coffee will be furnished, accord ing to James A.
