Ripperger, 619 Clark street, reported to police yesterday the theft of an almost new Atlas tire, serial No. 9905832, police reported today. The tire was mounted or. a black wheel, police were told. Fire Local firemen were called to The Shack, cafe, 318 East Main street, this morning to extinguish a fire caused by ignited grease under a stove, firemen reported today. No damage was caused, firemen said. Car Damaged An auto be longing to O. O. Hull, of Med ford, was slightly damaged yes terday when it collided on Sixth street with a car operated by James Stautley, according to an accident report on file with city police. At Home Miss Carol Gibson is spending a two-weeks vacation at her home, We-Ask-U-Inn on the Rogue river. Miss Gibson is employed by the Air Technical Service command, western dis trict, of the army air corps at Hollywood and will return there after her vacation. . .. Return Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Stearns and daughters, 522 West Fourth street, returned this week from the south where they have spent the past five days visiting. The Stearns' daughter, Bernlce, returned the first of this month from Eugene where she has been attending the uni versity. OF ORGANIZE LEAGUE Mrs. Dee Newton was unanlnv ously elected president of the Jackson County League of Dem ocratic Women at their organiza tion meeting held at the Hotel Holland Wednesday evening. Mrs. Atlanta Naffziger was elect ed vice president and Mrs. Roy seaman, secretary-treasurer. The league, to have chapters In Ashland, Gold Hill, Butte Falls, Jacksonville and other Jackson county towns voted to become an affiliate of the Ore gon League of Democratic Wom en which is an affiliate of the national Democratic Women's organization. Plans for the year's program were discussed with a view to laying a foundation for assist ance of the organization in the 1946 campaign. A resolution urg ing the inclusion of women on the county executive committee, in keeping with the intent and purpose of the Fifty-Fifty law of equal representation was unan imously passed by the organiza tion. A program of patriotic songs was played by Mrs. Rawles Moore, music chairman, who led the meeting in community sing ing. Mrs. Elmer Donahoo, Jack son county delegate to the Young Democratic convention to -be held In Portland Saturday, June 30, was presented to the league and made a brief talk.
