Medford Bethel, at formal ceremonies held Wednes day at the Masonic hall here. She succeeds Miss Nancy Swem. Par ents and friends were guests for the installation. Miss Swem led the impressive ceremony and upon its comple tion the new queen was present ed with the gavel, royal purple robe and the crown of her office. She presided over the remainder of the meeting and introduced her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Wright, and her brother, T. Sgt. Delmer Wright, just returned from three years of overseas service. A five-part poem was then read by a group of the retiring queen's close friends and she was presented with a gift. Installing officers were Betty Jean and Mildred McKenzie, Ann Conroy, Helen Rubenstein, Ruth Andrews and Claire Thom as. The service was read at eight o'clock in the evening by the Rev. W. A. Dawes In the presence of about 250 relatives and friends. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Edith Whlllock, 1003 West Main street and the groom is the son of Mrs. Lucy Crews, 737 West Fourteenth St. The bride's gown was of lace trimmed while marquisette worn with a fingertip veil and she car ried a bouquet of red roses. She was given in marriage by her brother, Charles Whlllock. Stuart, Hillsboro, Ore., became the bride of Jack Gardner, Jr., son of Jack Gard ner, Sr., Medford, June 14, at a candlelight service in St. Mark's Episcopal church here. The Very Rev.- Herald Gardner, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Rev. George Turney performed the ceremony. Large baskets of gladioli ar ranged with candelabra decor ated the church and a bouquet of white blossoms was placed be fore the altar. The bride's gown was of the traditional white satin fashioned with a train. Her veil was held by orange blossoms and she car ried red roses. She was given In marriage by her father. Mrs. W. H. McCart, sister of the bride and matrdn of honor, was dressed in a rose taffeta gown and carried matching roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Helen Ken dall, wore pale pink with match ing roses for her flowers. Earl Sims was best man and also in the wedding party was the bride's brother-in-law, TSgt. W. H. McCart. Following the ceremony a re ception was held In the garden of the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Hampson, 19 Willamette ave nue. After the cutting of the cake by the bride and groom, the groom's aunt, Mrs. Maude Wy antt, completed the serving of the cake and Mrs. Earl Sims served punch. The couple cll Immediately for Seaside, Ore., for 10 days and will return here for a few days before continuing to Nor folk, Va., where the groom will attend naval school. Social Affairs Given In Honor Of Bride-Elect Miss Deborah Tumy, whose wedding will take place Tues day evening, has been the Incen tive for a number of social af fairs in recent days. Miss Tumy, who will be married to Richard C. Ashcom of Johnstown, Pa., Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Tumy, 705 Park street. Tuesday evening Mrs. Walter R. Jones entertained at a dinner at the Colony club which hon ored the bride-elect, inviting several of Miss Tumy's close friends. Mrs. W, H. Mulrhead enter tained Friday at a luncheon for Miss Tumy, the luncheon also be ing at the Colony club. C, member of the Na tional League of Women Voters staff, will meet officers and other board members of the Jackson County League In Med ford June 28 to discuss extension of league services locally, ac cording to Mrs. Justin Smith, president. The wedding music was play ed by Mrs. R. L. Lantz and pre ceding the ceremony John Eby sang "Because." Ushers were Riley Cook and Chester Fitch. Following tho service a dinner was served for the wedding par ty after which the couple left for Captain Hunter's home in Philadelphia. Later Captain Hunter, who recently returned to the United States after an ex tended period of duty in the South Pacific, will report to Fort Dix. N. J., for reassignment. Mrs. Hunter plans to return to Medford about the middle of July and will be with her par ents at 909 North Central ave. Wisconsin Girl Married Friday To Medford Man Married last week at the Pres byterian church were Miss Audrey lone Sorenson, of Rice Lake, Wis., and Edward McFnr lanc, United States navy. The service took place at two o'clock Friday afternoon with the Rev. Harry W. Hansen performing the ceremony. Miss Sorenson wore for the service a pale blue suit and her flowers were a corsage of red rosebuds. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kershaw. Mr. and Mrs. McFarlane will remain in the valley until early In July and will then go to San Bruno, Calif., where the groom, coxswain in the navy, reports for duty. He has served three years in the South Pacific. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Sorenson' of Rice Lake and the groom Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Stcrigere, Routo 3, Box 426. - Mrs. Lewis Leaving For Washington Visit Mrs. Ida Lewis, 1601 East Main street, Is to leave today for Everett, Wash., where she will spend the next two weeks visit ing friends and relatives. Mrs. Lewis made her home in Everett for 18 years before coming to Medford. They will return to Klamath Falls in the evening to continue the tour of the state, Miss Fitzgerald And Earl Weaver Wed In Medford In a simple ceremony the aft ernoon of June 23, Miss Frances Fitzgerald, daughter of Mrs. F. H. Fitzgerald, of Sams Valley, became the bride of Earl W. Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Weaver, 841 East Ninth street, Medford. The service was read at 2 o'clock byvthe Rev. Harry W. Hansen of the First Presbyterian church, of Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Fitzger ald, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, attended the couple. For her wedding the bride wore a gold colored suit with white accessories and a corsage of gardenias, roses and delphi niums. Mrs. Fitzgerald wore a beige suit with a gardenia cor sage. Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Frank Fitzgerald and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Weaver. The bride and groom left Im mediately after the ceremony for a short wedding trip. They will make their home on East Ninth street, In Medford. Mr. Weaver is manager of the Grange Cooperative Supply, and prior to her marriage Mrs. Weav er was a teacher in Klamath Falls schools. Couple Honored At Supper Party Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Car penter entertained Thursday eve ning at a supper party honoring Captain and Mrs. William Horn. Captain Horn is stationed at Camp White and Mrs. Horn and son are spending three weeks at Shady Cove in order to be near the officer. ADRIENNE'S Engagement Told Of Miss Loeffler To Naval Officer Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Loeffler, 404 West Fifth street, announce the engagement of their daught er, Mary Ellen, to Ensign Larry A. Jackson. Ensign Jackson Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Jackson of Richfield, Kan. No date has been set for the wed ding. Mis Loeffler attended the Medford schools and graduated from Parkvllle high school, Parkvllle, Mo. Later she at tended the University of Oregon for a year and is now employed at Mann's Department store. Miss Loeffler met her fiance while Dr. Loeffler was stationed with the V-12 unit at Park col lege, Parkvllle, Ensign Jackson having been a V-12 trainee there at that time. Upon com pletion of his training he at tended the United States Naval Reserve midshipman's school at Columbia university, New York, and received his commission as ensign in October of 1944. Ensign Jackson is now in Medford for a 10-day leave and Is a guest of Mrs. Loeffler and her daughter. He will return to sea duty. Dr.. Loeffler, lieutenant-commander in the navy, is also cur rently on sea duty Party Is Given Tuesday Evening For Mi Lester Miss Zavive Lester, bride-elect of Donald M. Minear, was honor guest at a party for which her aunt, Mrs. J. S. Lydiard, was hostess Tuesday evening. Miss Lester and Mr. Minear will be married this afternoon at four o'clock at the First Baptist church. Guests at the affair included the young women who will be in the wedding party and their mothers.
