Society and CLUBS Former Residents Arrive For Visit Mr. and Mrs. Emory Bcgg and daughter, Norma Jean, arrived In Medford last night and are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Miner Boshears, 408 South Grape street. The Beggs, former residents here, now reside in Eu gene and will spend a week's va cation with friends here and in other parts of the country. Today the Beggs will be hon ored at a no-host dinner at the Boshears home, a group of their close friends having been Invited to the affair. Root enter tained the Victory club of Reames chapter, O.E.S., at her home on the Jacksonville high way Wednesday. The affair, an outdoor luncheon, was the last mectitig of the club before the annual summer adjournment. Those having birthdays in April, May and June were seat ed at a special table and several birthday cakes were a part of the luncheon menu. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Lucile Hull, worthy matron of Josephine chapter, Grants Pass; her sister, Mrs. Buhlan, and Mrs. Elizabeth Buhn, associate matron of the Grants Pass chap ter. Other guests were Mrs. Hazel Hoffman of McMlnnville, Ore., and Mrs. Bessie Lumsden of Idaho. Forty-two attended the pleas ant afiair. 1 Daughters Hear Meeting Reports Highlighting the meeting of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Friday evening were reports of the department convention held June 19 and 20 in Coos Bay. Mrs. June Brlsbine was the official delegate of the Medford tent and also attending were Miss Ora Cox, past presi dent of the national department and now a member of the nation al council, and Dr. Susie Vi Standard, retiring state depart ment chaplain. During the convention Mrs. Brisbine presided over the annu al luncheon of the Granddaugh ters' club of the D.U.V. and Mrs. Standard was elected state de partment inspector and instruc tor. f The delegates reported that the streamlined meeting was held mainly to transact routine busi ness of the department. A spe cial visitor was Mr. Penland of Portland, stale president of the Grand Army of the Republic. McDuffee Family Home From Portland Trip Mr. and Mrs. Paul McDuffee and daughters, 1701 East Main street, returned Friday night from Portland where they spent the past week visiting Mr. Mc Duffee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George McDuffee, and friends. Ladies Auxiliary Of Baptist Church To Hold Luncheon Mrs. Emory Begg of Eugene, Ore., will be a special guest at a luncheon meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary of the First Baptist church Tuesday at the church parlors. Mrs. Begg formerly re sided here and was an active member of the Baptist church. The luncheon will be at 12 o'clock. Members of the Auxill arywhose names begin with the letters A to M are to bring a salad for the menu and those whose names begin with N to Z are to bring sandwiches, the committee states. A missionary meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Mrs. Mitchell will lead devotions and the commit tee in charge will be the Mes dames E. M, Wilson, Cope, Dixon and Mead. Preceding the luncheon mem bers of the planning commission of the church will meet at. the church at 10 o'clock. Lady Lions' Club To Meet Tuesday Installation of new , officers will be held Tuesday evening during the meeting of the Med ford Lady Lions' club at the home of Mrs. Earl Miller, 617 Park street. Dessert will be served at 7:30 o'clock preceding the ceremonies. Mrs. N. D. Rowe is the new president of the group, succeed ing Mrs. C. C. Proctor. Shriners' Wives Plan Dinner Tuesday Night Shriner's Wives will hold a potluck dinner Tuesday at the home of Mrs. I. D. Canfield, Aloha Ranch, Coleman Creek Road. Mrs. Olen Arnspiger and Mrs. Al Leighton will be co hostesses. Those attending are to bring service and anyone wish ing transportation is to call one of the hostesses. Methodist Society Plans June Meeting The Women's Society of Chris tian Service of the Methodist church will hold the June meet ing at the church Tuesday aft ternoon beginning at 2 o'clock. Members of the Just Folks' cir cle will present the program and women of the Mary and Martha circle will serve refreshments. Dinner Is Announced By Club For Tuesday Pythian club members and their husbands will be entertain ed Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Legg in Central Point for 7 o'clock dinner. Members are asked to bring a covered dish for the dinner menu. Miss Helen Courtney will assist the hostess.
