SOCIETY and CLUBS Jacksonville Club Holds Installation Thursday Afternoon ' Jacksonville Newly elected officers of the Jacksonville Gar den club were Installed Thurs day at - a meeting at the home of Miss Claire Hanley. Taking office were Mrs. Leonard Mc Kee, president; Mrs. Stella Beach, first vice-president; Mrs. Louis Conley, second vice-president; Mrs. D. C. Mills, treasurer; Mrs. Otto Heckert, secretary, and Mrs. H. T. Nichol, librarian. Committees named to serve the coming year are program chairman, Miss Hanley;. social chairman, Mrs. Harold Reed; civic chairman, Mrs. R. N. Fin ney; publicity chairman, Mrs. Dee Hendrickson; defense chair , man," Mrs. Louis Conley; year book. Miss Hanley and Mrs. Heckert; plant sale chairman, Mrs. Ray Coleman. Mrs. Nichol acted as Installing officer. Incoming officers and past officers were presented with corsages. There was an exchange of handmade gifts. Refreshments . were served from a beautifully appointed table, with Miss Martha Hanley and - Mrs. Gwin assisting the hostess. Following the refresh ment hour the guests enjoyed a tour of the Hanley gardens where Miss Hanley specializes in the growing of begonias, croft lilies and delphinium. Election To Be Held By Sojourners' Club Election of officers will be held during the meeting of Med iord Sojourners' club Thursday at 'the Girls' Community club. Dessert will be served at one o'clock and will be followed by the meeting and cards. Reservations are to be made with Mrs. L. L. Rentz, 2604. Adjutant, Wife Guest Speakers For Lodge Meet Adj. and Mrs. Charles Rosnick spoke at the meeting of Olive Rebekah lodge Monday evening, with the Hawaiian Islands as their subject. The Rosnicks, who spent seven years in Hawaii be fore returning to this country in September of 1944, were living near Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack. . Other entertainment was fur nished by Mrs. Eve Prentice's Accordiana Girls. Playing were Maxine Powell, Carol Davis and Amelia Kaufman. Glenn Yost also gave accordion numbers and sang several selections. , Ina Huson, district deputy president, announced installa tion for the evening of July 2 at 8 p. m. Laura Wicker, noble grand, presided. Among visitors was Mrs. Mabel Rubendew, who recently came to Medford from Idaho with her husband and two daughters. . . - Refreshments were served by the Mesdames Bryant, Spencer, Milnes, Pickel and Edelmuth. Newlywed Couple Leaves After Visit In City Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Pitts left Monday evening for San Diego after a visit in Medford with Mr. Pitts' mother, Mrs. Al meda Budge, Route 1. Mr. and Mrs. Pitts, whose wedding was a recent event, were honored at a picnic dinner and shower while here. Mr. Pitts, aviation machinist's mate first class, is now stationed at San Diego. Table Rock Home Scene of Party For Mrs. Bigham Mrs. Aletta Bigham was hon ored at a surprise party June 13 which celebrated her 76th birth day anniversary. The group, 39 relatives and friends, gathered at the Bigham home at Table Rock. , All of Mrs. Bigham's children were present except T. Sgt. Basil Bigham, who is in Germany. Present were Mrs. Bigham, her daughter, Grace; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Myers and children, Carol, Jean, and Albert; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Brown and daughter, Glenna Mae; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith and children Lucille, Ernest, and Wayne, from Table Rock; Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Bigham and sons, John, Larry and David, from Central Point; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bigham and daughter Clara Mae; Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Bigham and children, Dale and Bernice, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson and son Ronnie of An telope; Mrs. Edna Cox, Mrs. Basil Bigham and daughter Pa tricia, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bigham and sons Lyle, Kenneth and Clifford, of Ashland. Parish Hall Scene Of Dancing Party About 100 young people at tended a formal dance given at Sacred Heart parish hall Tues day evening of last week. St. Mary's Academy senior quartet sang a group of numbers, the Accordiana Girls played during the evening and Pfc. McMullen of Camp White sang. A profusion of roses decorated the hall and after an evening of dancing refreshments were served. Dinner Is Given For Girl Scouts At Braley Home A dinner honoring Girl Scouts who have earned their first class awards was held recently at the home of Mrs. C. Reese Braley, former commissioner.
