SAM JENNINGS TIRE CO. 229 No. Riverside The youth arrived In Medford the night of April 24 and went to the USO where he got something to eat, later going to a hotel, his story said. Wore No Tie At the hotel he was seen by two army officers, one of whom was a recent graduate of a pro vost marshal's school and is par ticularly observant of uniforms. He noticed young Carter wore no necktie and questioned him. Carter said his personal belong ings, including his identifica tion tags, had been stolen. The officers were suspicious and called a military policeman who grilled Carter. The youth told them he had been shell-shocked in Corsica. A search of his per son revealed four cents in cash and three checks made out to himself, He explained the checks because he might need some money. Rushed To Hospital He told the questioning ser geant he had a bad pain in his head and he was rushed to a hospital. Military police called Capt. Fritz who questioned the boy. After considerable ques tioning, he told his story to Capt. Fritze, who said he would be turned over to juvenile au thorities. . State police said today young Carter is a parole violator from Roseburg and is wanted by ju venile authorities there. The state police, sheriff's office and the provost marshal are inves tigating possible bad checks by the youth. PASADENA DEER PARK Pasadena, Calif., April 26. (U.R) The west is 'still wild.
