Society and CLUBS Plan Observance Pearl Harbor Day At Luncheon Meet Plans for the largo open house affair which the Jackson Red Cross chapter will hold Decem ber 7 at the courthouse in ob servance o.f Pearl Harbor day were made Tuesday at a lunch' eon for which Mrs. Alfred S. V, Carpenter was hostess at the Colony club. Mrs. Carpenter is general chairman in charge of the open house which will be held between 10 a. m. and p. m. Thf rtnpn hnusf. will ncpnm. plish a three-fold purpose, ac cording to the plans. It will show, the activities and opera tion of the many chapter de partments and services, greatly needed volunteers will be re cruited end gifts collected to be sent by (he county camp and hospital committee for presen tation to men on the high seas at Christmas time. Great em phasis is being laid on this lat ter project by the camp and hos pital committee and everyone in the county is invited to contri bute gifts These will be added to gifts collected from many coast points and assembled at ports of embarkation. , Suggested gifts are shaving cream or lotion, comb and nail 4i1a eata a7j-m hladaD siowIb no. perback books, handkerchiefs, ties, small games, address books, eversharp pencils, writing pads and pencils, soap, cigarettes, cigarette cases, oilskin water proof pouches, snapshot cases or billfolds. . Invited to the luncheon were the chairmen of various Red Cross services and committees including Mrs. Rawjes Moore, Mrs. A. Oren Schenck, Mrs. Gus Newbury, Mrs. Charles Stearns, Mrs. Harry Holmes, Mrs. C. Rease Bralcy, Miss Helen Bullis, Mrs. . S. E. Philips, Miss Vera Humphrey, Mrs. H. O. Colburn, Mrs. Maurice Spatz, Mrs. Don Newbury, Mrs. Mark Goldy, Mrs. Gillian Salade, introduced during the meeting as the new vice-chairman of special services for the chapter, Mrs. John R. Young and Mrs. John W. Hors ley, representing the army Red Cross auxiliary, Mrs. Fred Rankin. Med ford Woman Is Honor Guest Mrs. Albert Kenyon was hon ored guest last Monday morning when Mrs. Everett Faber invited a few friends for "brunch" at her home in Central-Point. An arrangement of fall flowers of a deep rose hue and blue tapers centered the table and bouton- nieres marked the places laid for each guest. Guests were Mrs. Kenyon, Mrs. Clarence Meeker, Mrs Louis Klrby, Mrs. George How ard, Mrs. Charles Hopkins and Mrs. Elton Waldrori; Mrs. Kenyon was presented - with a farewell gift since she is leaving soon to reside in Wash ington. ' - Party Is Planned By Wenonah Club Members of the Wenonah club will hold the annual Christmas , party Thursday of this week, the affair to be at the-home of Mrs. Walter Wilson on Janney Lane. A covered dish luncheon win be served at noon and a Christmas tree with exchange of gifts is planned for the after noon. Members are reminded to bring their own table services. McKinneyi in Portland For Family Celebration Mr. and Mrs. E. E. McKinney, 537 Austin street, went to Port land last week to attend the 50th wedding anniversary cele bration of Mrs. McKinney's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Reinig. Mr. and Mrs. Reinig were married in Seattle, Wash., November 29 1694. They have resided in Port land since 1904. Semon, Mrs. E. H. Edgerton and Mrs. Ken neth Denman in addition to Mrs. Gilstrap. Members are asked to arrive promptly at 1 o'clock. Visitors Leaving After Month Here. At Newhall Home Mrs. Dorothy L. Guthrie, for mer Medford resident who has been a guest of Mrs. Charles Newhall, Old Stage road, for the past month, plans to leave Wednesday for California. She will visit her son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Guthrie In Riverside, and friends in a number of other cities. Mrs. Guthrie, who came to Medford from Canada where she had been with a brother, will spend the winter in the south and plans to be in Med ford again when she returns north in the spring. Until her arrival in Canada Mrs. Guthrie had been in England for a num ber of years and for five years served with the women's aux iliary air force. While here Mrs. Guthrie was honored at a number of social affairs. Plan Homecoming Of Rebekah Lodge Tomorrow Evening Olive Rebekah lodge will hold the annual Homecoming affair tomorrow night at the I.O.O.F, hall. The Homecoming will be in the form of a 6:30 o'clock dinner for members of Odd Fel lows lodge No. 83 and their wives and for members of Re bekah lodge No. 28 and their husbands. Mrs. Lehman stated that the results were most gratifying seven large boxes of games, magazines and other articles having been packed. Mrs. Sleeter Returns From Visit With Son . Mrs. R. W. Sleeter has return ed to her home, 1715 East Main street, after spending five weeks in Salt Lake City with her son and daughter-in-law. Dr. . and Mrs. Dick Sleeter and their in fant son. Richard Lee. Richard Lee, first child of Dr. and Mrs. Sleeter, was born Oct. 14. Mrs, Sleeter is the former Isabelle Miller of Medford. Dr. Sleeter is taking a resi dency at the Salt Lake City General hospital, his - mother states. Birthday Celebrated In celebration of the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Ferdie Hub bard, Mrs. Edna Standley enter tained at dinner the evening of November 29. Dinner was served at six o'clock at the home of Oliver Martin on Kirtland road to Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard, Mr Martin and Mrs. Standley. Dur ing the evening Mrs. Hubbard was presented with a number of gifts. LI Newly wed Couple - Will Make Home In Eagle Point Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Whaley, Jr., have taken up residence here with Mr. Whaley's sister, Miss Rose Whaley, having returned here from a brief wedding trip. Mrs. Whaley is the former Dessie Jane Wirick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wirick of Eagle Point. Her wedding to Mr. Whaley took place November 13 in Portland, the services be ing read at Centenary - Wilbur Methodist church by the Rev. Owen J. Beadles. State Inspector , Of Relief Corps Coming Thursday Mary Fern, Portland, depart ment inspector for the Women's Relief Corps, will be in Medford Thursday to make the annual inspection of the local corps. She will meet with corps mem bers at the armory at 2 o clock in the afternoon. Election of officers will be held during the afternoon and the meeting will close with .a tea hour. Mrs. Fred Lawrence is president of the Medford corps. Mills College Student Will Aid With Play Miss Clara Daniels, sophomore student at Mills College In Oak land, Calif., will aid with the presentation of the annual Christmas play at the college ac cording to a news release from the school. The play will be giv en Wednesday, Dec. 6. Miss Daniels is serving on the com mittee in charge of properties for the play. ' Miss Daniels . is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. S.
