Pacific Fleet Headquar ters, Pearl Harbor, Nov. 11 IU.R) The entire China sea has been ' brought under allied air cover by American air patrol wings operating from newly-won bases on Leyte island in the central Philippines, Rear Adm. George D. Murray, commander of the air force for the Pacific fleet, disclosed today. U. S. navy patrol planes fly ing from Leyte have extended American air might across the entire Pacific, Murray reported on his return from conferences in the western Pacific with area leaders. ' The famed fast carrier task .force which has been ranging the western ocean area within a few months will be twice as .strong as it was six months ago. despite some damage suffered in battling the Japanese in re cent actions, the admiral said. PFC. CLARENCE NELSON IS REPORTED MISSING Pfc. Clarence Nelsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Nelson, 306 Hamilton street, Medford, has been reported missing in action by the war department, accord ing to a letter received here from his parents, now. in San Diego. Li. Wright Homo First Lt. Richard Wright has arrived in Medford, after seven months overseas, to visit his wife, who resides at 514 Franquette street. Lt. Wright, a navieator on a B-17, is on a 21 day leave. Be fore entering the service he was employed at the First National Bank. a Honorably Discharged Rob ert Gale Rice, son of Captain and Mrs. Gale Rice, 719 West 11th street, has received a medi cal discharge from the ' navy. Rice was stationed at Farragut. Idaho. He graduated from Med--ford high school and attended Oregon State college before en tering the service a month ago. Hartley arrived in Medford last night, by United Airlines, from Camp Gruber, Okla., to visit his wife and daughter, Mrs. Tom Martin of 407 North Holly street, Col. Hartley was formerly sta tioned at Camp White, and his family are now making their home here. a a a Son Born Cpl. and Mrs. Nicholas C. Benjamin are the parents of a son bora November 7 at Sacred Heart hospital in Medford. Mrs. Benjamin is the former Peggy Corum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Corum, and has been making her home with her parents at 317 South Orange street. Cpl. Benjamin is with the 96th Infantry division now engaged in active combat in the Philippine islands. The infant, which weighed five pounds and 12 ounces, has been named Nicholas Chester n.
