Wedding Ceremony Held In New York Announcements have been re ceived here of the wedding last ' Sunday of Miss Joan Murphy, " daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fran- cis Patrick Murphy of Throgg's ' Neck, New York, to Lt. John , L. Applegate, son of Mr. and ; Mrs. Frank L. Applegate, 615 , South Oakdale avenue. The wedding took place at St. Bene dict's Roman Catholic church in , New York City, the double ring . ceremony being read at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. For the service the bride wore , a gown of Copenhagen blue vel vet. She carried a white lynx ' fur muff with an arrangement " of gardenias. Maid of honor ' was the bride's sister, ' . Miss Frances Murphy, who wore ' raspberry velvet and carried a white fur muff with red roses. Best man for Lt. Apptegate f was Lt. Eugene Tighes. , Following the service a recep i tion was held at Judge's Riviera. ' Lt. and Mrs. Applegate are on 'a wedding trip and will leave soon for the west coast since the 4 officer is to report November 4 ' at Santa Ana air base in Call fornia. Lt. Applegate, until re ; cently with an infantry unit in t New York, has been transferred i to the air corps. He attended St. Mary's academy In this city as a boy, graduating from the 'high school, and then attended ', St. Benedict school at Mount i Angel, Ore. His officer training 'was at Ft. Benning, Ga. Catherine Ford Is Honor Guest Thursday Night Miss Catherine Ford was com plimented at a miscellaneous shower Thursday night given by Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Klam ath Falls, former Medford resi dent, and Mrs. B. Officers of the lodge request a full attendance. Gueiti at Perl Home . Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perl and son, Frank, of Chicago, are in Medford to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Perl, Rt. 1. Tuesday the Perls and their guests made a trip to Crater Lake, encountering a snow storm In the park. The visitors plan on leaving Tuesday of this week. St. Anne's Society Of Catholic Church Plans Benefit Party St. Anne's Altar society of sacred Heart Catholic church is sponsoring a large benefit card party tomorrow night at the par ish hall on South Oakdale Ave nue. The affair is scheduled to begin at 8 p. m. and various card games will be played. During the evening a commit tee will give away a "Treasure Trunk", filled with a quantity of household articles donated by various members of the society. Refreshments will be served. In charge of the affair is Mrs. W. Alex Kuehlthau as chairman. President of St. Anne's society this year is Mrs. E. H. McKee. Members and friends of Sacred Heart church and the general public are invited to attend the party. ' Mrs. Kuns Returns Home From Visit In Bremerton ".Mfg. 'C. E. Kunz returned to her home, 1036 West Eleventh St., Thursday night from Brem erton, Wash., where she spent the. past two weeks with her mother, who is seriously ill. Miss Jeanne McKay And Ensign Racine Married In Florida Of much interest here are de tails of the wedding of Miss Jeanne Elizabeth McKay, daugh ter' of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Racine of Salt Lake City, Utah, recently; The military ceremony tdok place October 2 at 6 o'clock In the evening at Trinity Episcopal church in Miami, Fla. - ! Miss McKay's wedding gbwii was of white crepe with which she wore elbow length gloves and her tulle veil Was draped: from a white calot. Bab' cock of Seattle, Wash.,' and best man for Ensign . Racine wat Ensign Alfred D. Kennedy- of Georgia. i ' ' The reception was held at the home of Mrs. M. Sefredo, a' 1700 North Bay shore. Drive in Miami. ... ,. .s:' Mrs. Racine has w resided in Medford her entire life and has many friends. She attended the Medford Schools, graduating from Medford high school, and .later attended the University of Utah at Salt Lake City for three years. There she was a member of Delta Gamma, national social sorority, and of Apraim, honor society. Ensign Racine attended the University of Idaho and graduated from Reed College in Portland. His social fraternity is Sigma Nu. The 'ensign re ceived his naval training , at Notre Dame and Columbia uni versities and is now stationed in the port director's office of the naval control station in Miami. Ensign and Mrs. Racine arc making their home at 519 North East 72nd St., in Miami. Mrs. McKay went south with her daughter for the wedding and returned ' to Medford last Sunday. ' ' " Several - pre-nuptial : affairs were given for the bride before her departure from Medford and she and her fiance were entertained in Miami prior to the wedding. -' Medford Couple Wed In Alturas The wedding of Mrs. Cordla Deatherage to Lawrence Nash, both of Medford, took place Monday, October 18, in Alturas, Calif. For the ceremony Mrs, Deatherage-wore a suit of brown with accessories of powder blue, Mrs. Nash is the owner of the Harmony beauty shop in Med ford. She has made her home here many years and has many; friends. Mr. Nash. is with the' Medford staff of the Office of Defense Transportation. Mr. and Mrs. Nash have taken up residence at Cargill Court. Recent Bride hi - Mrs. Frank Douglas, who be came the bride of Mr. Douglas at a large wedding at the First Christian church October 6. Mrs. Douglas is the former Miss Nellie Nipper, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nipper of Rt. 4. Mr. Douglas is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Douglas, also of Medford. (Photo by Evergreen Studio.) Past Officers Reames Chapter To Be Honored Past matrons' and past pa trons' night, an annual affair, will be held by Reames Chapter, Eastern Star, this coming week on Thursday night. Planning the program are Mrs. Clinton D. Wood and Mrs. George H. Hiles. The evening will close with re freshments served by the Octob er committee of which Mrs, Florence Butler is chairman. All past matrons and patrons of the chapter are cordially in vited to attend the special meet ing. At present 29 past worthy matrons and 12 past worthy pa-. trons are still members . of Reames chapter. Present worthy matron is Mrs. C. E. Kunz and E. C. Root is the present worthy patron. Susan Vilas, Joyce utz, Betty Rose, Nina Tuttle and Bob Davis. - Newly Wed Couple Live In Boston; Both Are Doctors Dr. and Mrs. Max George Carter, who were married Sep tember 25 In Boston, Mass., have established a home In that city, both being physicians on the staff of Boston City hospital. Dr. Max Carter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Carter, 821 East Jackson Blvd., and his wife is the former Dr. . Barbara Ford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fran cis J. W. Ford of Boston. Dr. Carter this month com pletes a year as resident sur geon for the Boston City hos pital and the first of Novem ber reports to the naval hos pital near Boston for duty as a navy physician. His wife is resident physician specializing in internal medicine for the city hospital. ; Dr. Max Carter graduated from Medford senior high school, the University o Oregon and from Harvard Medical school. Dr. Barbara Carter graduated from Bryn Mawr be fore attending medical school The couple visited in Medford in July at the home of Dr. Car ter's family.. Georgia Currier Is Honor Guest At Shower Party Miss Neva Childreth and Mrs. E. O. Relnking were hostesses Friday evening for a bridal shower honoring Miss Georgia Currier, who is leaving this week for Corpus Christi, Tex. There Miss Currier will become the bride of Frank A. Ralston, United States Navy, who for merly resided in Rogue River, Ore. The shower party was given at the home of Miss Currier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Currier, at 402 Hamilton St. Games were played and refresh ments served. Present were th Mesdanies Melvin Cannon, Cur tis Fitch, George Childreth, Verl Walker, Howard Glascock, N. Thompson, I. D. Murray, H. F. W. Spilver, Lewis Smith, J. R Seiler and George Currier, and the Misses Florence Erb, Caro line Leaders, Adabee Seller, the guest of honor, Miss Currier, and the two hostesses. - The bride-elect has been teach-' ing in eastern Oregon for the past three, years.., Her' fiance who was' a teacher in Klamath county before going into the navy, is a radio technician at the naval air station in Corpus Christii Both -Miss Currier and Mr. Ralston are graduates of the Southern Oregon College of Ed ucation and Miss Currier later graduated from the University of Oregon. Long Island Girl : Is Betrothed To , . Lt. James Henry . Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Ude of Great Neck, Long Island, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Lorraine Eve lyn, to Lt. Rupert James Henry of the United States naval air force. Lt. Henry is the son of Mrs. Rupert James Henry, Sr.. and the late Mr. Henry, of Med ford, and is now stationed at Oakland, Calif. No definite date has been set for the wedding. - Miss Ude studied at Lasell Jun ior college, Auburndale, Mass., Adelphi college and the Kath erine Gibbs school in New York. Lt. Henry graduated from Med ford senior high school and then attended the University of Wash ington at Seattle where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, national social fraternity. Lt.
