Fleeman A lull military wedding wai n event of yesterday at Camp White when Misa Allyn Bate, daughter of Mr. and Mr. Aus tin L. Bate of Cava Junction, wai married to Tech. Sgt. John W.W Fleeman, Jr., ton of Mr. end Mrs. John W. Fleeman, Sr., of Dsllas Tex. The ceremony was read at S o'clock yesterday afternoon at the 361st Infantry Chapel by Chaplain John Watson. Given In marriage by her father the bride wore a chocolate brown suit with green accessories and a corsage of gardenias. She was attended by Mrs. Coystal Lannlng as matron of honor, who wore rust-colored suit with green accessories, and Mist Betty Bate, as bridesmaid, who selected a green suit with brown accessories. Both . wore gardenia corsages. Tech. Sgt. Derold L. Simmons was best man. Pvt. John Albreeht played traditional wedding music at the organ and the wedding song was sung by the bridegroom, Tech. Sgt. Fleeman. Following the ceremony they departed from the church under an archway of rifles and fixed bayonet and were escorted In a "peep" to the non-commls-, sloned officers club by the guard of honor and the 881st Infantry Band. The bride cut the wedding cake and during the reception music was fur nished by Pvt. Dean Nelson, popular pianist. - The bride Is well-known In Cava Junction, Grants Pass and Klamath Falls. They will make their home In this city. Col. Warren Hood It Guest Speaker At D.A.R. Meet Col. Warren Hood' of Camp White was guest speaker at the monthly meeting of Crater Lake Chapter, Daughters of Ameri can Revolution which was held " Saturday, Nov. 28, at the home of Mrs. E. M. Wilson on South Riverside avenue. Col. Hood gave a talk on the Quarter master's Corps at Camp White. Mrs. O. H. Brenneman was as sistant hostess. The next meeting of the chap ter will feature a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. M. M. Morris on Kings highway . Dea. 9th. Local Residents Wed Nov. 18 In Yreka Parsonage Of interest to friends in this city is announcement of the mar riage Nov. 18 at the Episcopal parsonage in Yreka, Cal of Frank Isaacs and Lena Clemons, both of Medford. The ceremony was read by the Rev. Father Leltch in the presence of close friends of the couple. - Mr. and Mrs. Isaacs have re turned to Medford to make their home at 233 North Grape street. Mr. Isaacs is employed with the Reter Trait company. Couple Wed In Church Ceremony The wedding of Velma Ardella Shollenburg and Emil Albert Martin was read Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the First Christian church at 9:30 p. m., with the Rev. R. W. Coleman officiating. The cou ple was attended by Sgt. John A. Settlcmlre as best man and fie bride's sister. Mrs. Arthur Han ion, as matron of honor. Also present for the wedding were Corp. Plans also Were made for the Christmas party to be held at the residence ef Flor ence Cuffel, 909 North Central avenue. Mothers are Invited to bring a small gift for exchange. Other officers elected includ ed: Florence Cuffel, vice-corn mander: Bernlce Clark, adjutant Gladys Dooms, finance officer; Maud Culbertson, chaplain: Nel lie Gibson, Lola Ludwig, ma trons at arms; Mabla Ford, Myr tle Fprns, color bearers, and Ma mie Matthews, judge advocate. The group continued sewing for navy relief. Mrs. Clara Hig- glns donated outing flannel for little jackets and a number of blankets and Mrs. Matthews con tributed $3 for the purchase of outing flannel for other purposes A covered dish luncheon was served at noon. Mary Ganfield Weds Mr. Underwood, In Ashland Rites Mr. and Mrs. Ray I. Ganfield, of the Old Pacific highway, an nounce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Isabella, to El mer W. Underwood, Nov. .26, at the Naiarene parsonage at Ash land, Ore. Rev. B. Peterson read the ceremony. They were attended by Miss Barbara Ganfield, sister of the bride, and Eugene Helm, friend of the groom. Only immediate relatives were present. Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McCurley, uncle and aunt of the bride, en tertained at dinner for the wed ding party following the cere mony. Mrs. Underwood graduated from Medford high school and Is attending Medford Business college. Mr. Underwood of In dianapolis, Ind., is stationed at Camp White with the station hospital. They will make their home here. Garden Club Hears Shrub Talk Mrs. Olen Hendrickson talked on berried shrubs and illustrat ed her talk with sprays of vari ous shrubs at the Medford Gar den club meeting Thursday aft ernoon at the Girls' Community clubhouse. A fine collection of garden books was on display. Mrs. Sadie Nichols presided during the business session dur ing which time plans were made for members to make evergreen garlands and charms December 18 at the Nichols home and office of Miss Jane Snedicor for decor ations of rooms in the Camp White hospital. All members are asked to cooperate on this project. Prizes during the afternoon were awarded to Mrs. Ray Johnson and Mrs. Nellie Bowles. Hostesses were the Mesdames Frank McKean, L. G. Gentner, Thomas Roseberry, Chris Ren ken and J, R. Woodford. Local Girls Attend Portland Wadding Miss Juanlta Gilklson and Miss Eugenia Hunt of this city attended the wedding of Miss Frances Wiley and J. Elmer Pol lock at the First Baptist church In Portland Nov. 24. The bride Is the daughter of Mrs. C. H. Wiley of Grants Pass and the bridegroom the sen of Mrs. Eva Pollock, also of Grants Pass. They will make their home in Portland. Mr. Pollock has been engaged In defense work in Ko- diak, Alaska, for several years. Dinner Reveals Betrothal News of Barbara Mee The announcement of the en gagement of Miss Barbara Mee of Applegate to Pvt. Delbert Ross of Corvallls was made known by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mee at a Thanks giving dinner at their home Nov. 26 to a group of friends. Those enjoying the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pear son and daughters, Edith, Bev erly and Lucille of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Kins man of Applegate, the bride elect and her parents. Miss Mee Is a graduate of Medford high school and Pvt. Ross is at present stationed with the Q. M. Sect SCU. 1911. Camp Adair. No date has been set for the wedding. Annual Gifts To Be Featured The annual contribution of gifts to the Children's Farm Home near Corvallis will be a feature of the meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union which will meet Thurs day at 2:13 p. m. at the home of Mrs. L. N. Younger, 611 West 8th and Laurel. This home for orphans and de pendent children is located on a farm of 233 acres and was opened over 20 years ago, more than 1100 children having been cared for since its establish ment. An interesting program has been prepared for the Thursday meeting, which is In charge of Mrs. Minnie Bryant. Each per son is asked to bring a gift. Weds King Tuttle Gwynne W. Roberts and King H. STORE Lewis Ulrich Guest Speaker at Luncheon Meeting 'Training Women in Higher Skills" was the topic of the dis cussion of Lewis Ulrich at the Business and Professional Wom en's club luncheon yesterday at Hotal Holland. He urged all who could to take the defense classes now being offered at Senior high school. Those Interested were urged to apply at the U.S. Employment office or the city school superintendent's office. Mr. Ulrich pointed out that 16 women have gone from Med ford to defense factories and plants and thai several women are now completing the course In welding at senior high school. Boeing employers at Seattle state that 43 per cent of their staff is now composed of women and 98 per cent of the rivet buckers are now women. Arrangements for the meet ing were in charge of Edith Serier assisted by Laura York. The next meeting will be Dec. 17 at the Outpost where club members will assist with soldier recreation. . Sams Valley Ladies Meet Sams Valley, Ore., Dec. 5 (Spl.) Sams Valley Ladies club was entertained last week at the home of Ruth Brown of Table Rock with 12 ladies pres ent. A business meeting was called by the president, Cath erine Morgan, to make arrange ments for the Christmas meet ing to be held Dec. 17 at the home of Mrs. Frank Strauss. Roll call was answered by giving names of members mov ing away or dropping from the club in the last year to be re membered with cards at the Christmas meeting. Ruth Brown gave a quiz. Visitors were Mrs. Hensley, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Mary Meyers and Edna Myers. Re freshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Alctta Blgham and Ruth Brown. Barbara Franklin Honored Guest At Bridal Shower Miss Barbara Franklin, bride- elect of Staff Sergeant Jeo Oaks. stationed at Camp White, was honored Monday evening with a miscellaneous shower at the Dale Franklin home on Kings highway, with her aunts, Mrs. Dale Franklin and Mrs. Doyle r ranklln, as hosteses. The evening was spent visiting ana later refreshments served by the hostesses to a group of mends. Miss Franklin received many gifts. The bride-elect, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niel Franklin of South Holly street, is a sradu ate of Medford high school and of Behnke-Walker Business col lege in Portland. She is em ployed at the main post exchange office at Camp White. Staff Ser geant Oaks is with the 351st Engineers at Camp White. The wedding will be an event of this month. Joining her husband at a later date. State Officer Attends Grants Pass Meeting Mrs. J. K. Hoey, state vice president of Parent-Teacher as sociation, of this city, was among the guest speakers on the Jose phine county Parent Teacher council meeting held Tuesday in Grants Pass at the Riverside school auditorium. Preceding the meeting the local unit presidents. county and state officers and chairmen were entertained at the Redwoods hotel with a no-host ess luncheon. Washington School Dinner About 200 parents, teachers and children of Washington school enjoyed a potluck dinner at the school gymnasium Friday evening. Following dinner a pro gram of music was enjoyed with group singing led by Miss Laura York. The following soldiers from Camp White took part in the program: Pvt. K. Field, vo cal solo; Pvt. E. L. Mariner's Class Holds Dinner At Recreation Hall Officers of the Mariners class of the First Christian church were elected for the coming year at a recent dinner party. Her bert and Georgia Burnham were elected skippers; Shlrrell and Fredene Doty, quartermasters, and Wayne and Isolee Wake field, pursers. Installation of of ficers will be held at the Decem ber party. Thirty-seven members and friends were present for the din ner invitations for which were in the form of a paper basket. The tables decorated with berries, greens and candles were ar ranged in "V' shape. An eve ning of games and fun followed with Skipper Clarence Smith presiding.
