Yule Party The annual Christ mas party of Medford American Legion post and auxiliary will be held Wednesday night at the armory. The affair will follow the usual business meetings of the two organizations which will be called at 8 p. m. A novel entertainment program Is being planned for the party and each member Is asked to bring an Inexpensive gift for the Christ mas tree. Refreshments will be served by the auxllarly at the close of the program. Toot of Snow Twelve Inches of snow covered the ground at headquarters Dulldlng in Crater Lake national park at noon yes terday, It was reported by short wave radio. Snow was falling at the time of the 8:49 a. m. broadcast but had stopped at the time of the noon broadcast. Minimum temperature Friday night was 28. The mercury stood at 34 degrees yesterday noon. The sky was partly over east. Roads were slippery and motorists were advised to have chains In their cars In case they were needed. First Flloht The first United Malnllner to call at Salem Fri day as plane service to the state capital was Inaugurated amid special ceremonies brought five pouches of mall to Medford. This plane, stopping at Salem at 1:03 p. m. on signal, ordi narily does not carry mall but special permission was obtained to move the mail on the inau gural flight because of the chance that the regular night mall plane might not have been able to stop on account of un favorable weather. Most of the first-flight mail was composed of stamp collectors' Items Sev eral stamp collectors here re ceived mail on the first right. The five pouches contained 114 pounds of mail. The mall was stamped at Salem with a special cachet. To Alaska Donald Beck of Prospect left Thursday by train for Kodiak, Alaska. ... Visiting Here Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Hoehne of Roseburg ar rived here yesterday by motor to spend the week-end at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Ferg, 730 Dakota avenue. Visiting Parents Sgt. William C. Downing of San Francisco Is spending a short furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G C. Downing on the south Pacific highway. He is stationed at the bay city with harbor defense. McClure, a station attendant for United Air Lines at Medford municipal airport, returned yes terday afternoon after spending a week in San Francisco where he attended a series of United Air Lines meetings. . CCC's Leave Five tralnloads of CCC enrol lees passed through Medford yesterday morning at 11:15 o'clock en route to their homes In the south where they will be discharged. Dover of Rogue River, candidate for the Demo cratic nomination for congress man from the new fourth dis trict, and L. P. Mathes. of Cen tral Point, one of his local cam paign managers, returned home yesterday from Lebanon where they attended a party get together. Others attending the meeting were Howard Latourette and Sen. Lou Wallace, candidate for the nomination for governor Mr. Dover was one of the speakers. ED A SUICIDE McMlnnville, Dec. 8 IP) J A. Glover. 71, Yamhill county commissioner from 1923 to 1926, was found dead at his home a mile west of Whitson last night from a shotgun wound In the head.
