Society ani Clubs by Betty Shoemaler Nazis Arrive at Former Czars Palace USHRINE HOSPITAL Women of Rotary Enjoy Meeting At Schenck Home Women of Rotary enjoyed a covered -dish luncheon and aft ernoon of bridge at the home of Mr. Orin Schenck, 29 Sum mit avenue, Wednesday after noon. Hostesses were Mrs. Chet Leonard and Mrs. Leonard May field. Fall flowers were used about the rooms. During the afternoon the group discussed plans for the welfare work to be carried on during the year. Mrs. Ernest R. Gllstrap is chairman of the wel fare committee. Mrs. M. E. Sands held high score at bridge. Stop Here En Route Home Mr. and Mrs. William A. Morand of Portland - arrived here Thursday from Des Moines, Iowa, where they attended the sovereign grand lodge of Odd Fellows. They spent several days in Los Angeles visiting relatives. While in Medford thev will be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Headlee, 42S South Oak dale avenue, son and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Morand. Enjoy Trip To Crater Lake Mrs. V. G. Veckl and her nephew, Charles Davis of Ber keley, Cal., left this morning for the south after visiting friends in Medford last evening. They enjoyed a motor trip to Crater Lake while in southern Oregon and enroute home planned to visit Lassen national park. The honored guest is leaving this week-end for Portland where she will make her home. Home Economics Clubs To Meet Home Economics clubs throughout Jackson county are making plans for the indoor picnic to be held at Jackson ville Grange hall Tuesday be ginning at 12:30 p. m. Lunch eon will be served followed by a social afternoon. Miss Marian Farrell, county home demonstration leader, will be present to talk on Home Economic activities during the coming year. Visiting clubs are asked to bring salad, sandwiches or cake for their own group. All Horn Economics club members are Invited. AT CLUB SESSION The humanitarian work of the Shriners hospitals for crip pled children was described by O. O. Alenderfer, past-potentate of Hillah Temple, at a meeting of the Medford Shrine club Thursday night. Shriners of this city, with a generous number of visiting nobles and a few invited guests, assembled at the Hotel Medford for the. dinner meeting and social hour. Gene Orr, presi' dent of the club, presided. During the first nine months of this year 117 crippled young' aters have been admitted to the Portland, Oregon unit, Alender fer told local Shriners. Readmis- slons totaled 134, new dis charges 111 and 1,439 examina tions were made. A number of children from this community have received treatment in this fine Portland hospital In recent years, the speaker, said, and seventeen are now on the wait ing list from Hillah Temple in southern Oregon. Alenderfer lauded the work of individual Shriners in the program of children's welfare and particularly voiced appreci ation for the cooperation ex tended by Medford's fire chief, Roy Elliott.
