A record attendance is expect ed at the First Presbyterian church here at the 11a.m. serv ice Sunday as World Commun ion Day is observed from sun rise to midnight in Presbyterian churches throughout the world. A special program has been arranged by the pastor. Dr. Sherman L. Divine, lor the serv ice here. Appropriate music will form an important part of the program and new members will be welcomed and children dedi cated to Cod's care and service. Letters have been sent to 250 families this week reminding them of the speual service. Visi tors will be welcome. Speaking of World Commun ion Day, a bulletin Issued by the Presbyterian church said: 'This great fellowship will stand out in contrast to our bro ken and disorganized world. It will bear witness to a spirit which can cross frontiers of race, break through barriers of hu man prejudice, and rise above the clash and conflict of warring nations as it reveals its unity in Christ. "Let each Presbyterian take his place in his own church on the day, committing himself anew to the world task and its one Master in the neediest time any generation ever saw. Let no one fail to share In the world fellowship at this communion season." Holman of Oregon called upon the west's mining Industry today to take its problems direct to congress, and not to "Washington bur eaucrats." The member of the senate military affairs committee ad dressed the annual convention of the American Mining Con gress. Without previous an nouncement, he appeared on the rostrum with a barrage of questions: this an all-out emergency for national defense, or la it not? "Are we short of materials or not?" The Oregon senator asserted that if the emergency Is real, time is the important produc tion factor, and not cost. To get strategic mineral quickly, he said conditions must be made favorable to "capital and labor." No capital, he boomed, is go ing to go into the business without reasonable assurance of a justifiable return. BALKSRAP AT F. R. Indianapolis, Oct. 3 (IP) The American Bar association today rejected a resolution, offered by Joseph T. Harrington, Chicago, calling for appointment of a committee to examine President Roosevelt's statements and ac tions for use in possible im peachment proceedings. So we didn t try. Instead we said these being the materials critical in the defense program, we'll do our planning for 1942 with that foremost in mind. Not merely for an "acceptable" car cer tainly not for any "ersatz" number. e had to have a real and representative Buick. One we could be proud of. One able enough, active enough, durable enough to serve till annual new models are the rule again. We resolved on a 1942 automobile of such merit as could carry the Buick reputation without fault until other new Buicks, however far off, could come along to refresh it.
