0 PAGE TEN MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON, SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 1941 IN COMING TALK Widespread Interest if being shown In the lecture appear ance here next week of Brynjolf Bjorset, Norwegian refugee. He will speak Wednesday at 8 p. m. In the high school auditorium under sponsorship of the Jack son County League of Women Voters. League officials point out that due to the increasing tension in International relations, Mr. BJor set's lecture Is especially timely. The speaker has traveled wide ly, is an author and economist of note and former president of the famous Academic society of Norway and former general manager of the Cooperative Credit society there. After graduating from the Royal Norwegian Institute of Technology, Mr. Bjorset served with the Dutch East Indian gov ernment. Interested in people and their governmental strug gles, he was in Turkey at the time of the uprising of the Young Turks under Kemal Pasha, lived in Syria for a time and has been a close student of the Arabs and Jews in Palestine. War rumblings sent the trav eller back to Europe, already with the knowledge that Nazi ism was spreading both in the Far East and in Europe. He returned to his native land In January of 1940 just before the Nazi invasion, and he was placed in charge of volunteers at Elverum. Following the fall of Norway, Mr. Bjorset escaped and took ship for America. The boat was captured by Germans and Bjorset was returned to Norway for questioning by the Gestapo. Taking advantage of his knowl edge of friction between the various German factions, Bjor set escaped and made his way to this country. With this knowledge and ex perience as a background, Mr. Bjorset will speak on "Europe Under Nazi Rule And After" and tell how ha believes Europe of democratic coopera tion will emerge from the war. Tickets for the lecture may be obtained from league mem bers, Pruitt's Music store or at the door the evening of the lecture.
