Shellhart, conference statistician, explained that the addition of new churches was due primarily to the recent merger of the Methodist Eplsco- pal and the Methodist Episcopal South churches and the "general deepening of spiritual feeling." There are 4,731 farms In Marion county compared with 9,181 in 1939 and 4.821 in 1930. There are 1,790 farms in Polk county, while there were 1,966 in 1939 and 1,883 In 1930.
