DOZEN CARS GOING TO DIAMOND LAKE Large Medford Representa tion to Meet Roseburg Caravan Tomorrow Noon bridge, only highway span over the North Umpqua river. Distance to Diamond lake from Medford U 83 milei and from Diamond lake to Roseburg via the new North Umpqua highway 92 miles, a total of 177 miles from Medford to Rose burg via Diamond lake, the AAA office figured. Trom Med ford to Roseburg via the Pa cific highway (U. S. 99), It, Is 112 miles. At least a dozen can will convey Medford business men to the celebration at Diamond lake tomorrow to mark the opening of the North Umpqua highway from Roseburg to the lake, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce said today. There is room available for business men who prefer to go with others rather than in their own cars, the chamber of com merce said. Those who desire to ride with others were asked to notify the chamber of com merce by telephoning 63 today. Due At 12:30 Those going from here are to travel directly to the lake, leav ing Medford at what hour they choose but reaching the lake by 12:30 when the festivities are scheduled to begin. A pot-luck lunch Is to be served at 12:30 In the U. S. forest service campground at the south end of Diamond lake, the end reached first by travel lers from Medford. Free cof fee, sugar and cream will be provided. Those who do not care to carry a picnic lunch may procure food at the Dia mond lake resort or at the store operated by the resort at the south end of the lake. Tents will be erected as dress ing rooms for men and women who care to go in swimming, according to word received here today from V. V. Harpham, supervisor of the Umpqua na tional forest, who Is sponsoring the celebration with the Rose burg Chamber of Commerce. Ellsworth M. C. A program will be held after the lunch. Harris Ellsworth, ed itor of the Roseburg News Re view, will be master of cere monies. James Frankland, as sistant regional forester at Port Its, will represent the U. S. forest service and Col. Harvey ' H. Fletcher, commander of the Medford CCC district, and Capt. Irvin A. Robinson, his executive officer, will represent the civil ian conservation corps. Ten minutes of the program will be allotted to the delega tions from Medford and Klam ath Falls. An organized caravan will travel from Roseburg to Dia mond lake, being scheduled to arrive at the mountain lake re sort at noon. En route to the lake, the Roseburg party will stop and dedicate the Illahee 204 ENROLLEES LEAVE TONIGHT Second train of the present quartely movement of CCC en rollees will leave here at 9:40 p. m. tomorrow for Fort Dlx. N. J. It will take a total of 204 enrollees from the Medford dis trict. Camp Williams Creek will entrain 43 enrollees here. Other Medford district companies wjll entrain enrollees at Redding and Likely. Cal. The train will take enrollees also from the Sacramento, Cal., and Fort Douglas, Utah, CCC districts. In all the train is scheduled to take 382 enrollees to Fort Dix from the 9th corps area. Other trains are scheduled to leave here Saturday and Sun day with enrollees for discharge or reassignment in the fourth corps area which embraces a number of southern states.
