(AP) Reldar Anderson, of Norway, who looked like a sure Olympic champion at ski Jumping In 1932, but didn't even get a chance to compete, has returned to demonstrate his ability to American winter sports fans. He was Injured In practice for the 1032 Olympics after setting a record of 237 feet for the Lake Placid Jump. He has Jumped nearly 340 feet at Plan lca. Yugoslavia. Anderson arrived yesterday and af ter a brief tunlng-up period, at Lake Placid, will take off on a trans continental tour, ending with a com petition to be held at San Francisco February 18-19. Dec. 31 JP) The Jap anese were reported by foreign sources today to have rushed troops Into Manchoukuo to put down disturb ances caused by units of China's eighth route army which had croseed Into the Japanese -dominated state. Reports from Peiping said from 15 to 20 tratnloads of Japanese had been crossing the border dally at Shanhal kuan for several days. A Japanese army spokesman, how ever, denied any troops were being sent Into Manchoukuo and said no trouble had .been reported anywhere along the border. The Chinese press reported trouble also was brewing In Formosa where Formosa ns and Chinese residents were opposing Japan's strict war measures. Meanwhile, Chinese reported new victories on the central front and in north Chine, where the Japanese were sending troop reinforcements to stamp out guerrilla activities. Breaking the long deadlock on the Canton-Hankow railway, the Chinese said they hsd recaptured Matang station, nine miles south of Yochow, gateway to Hunan province. Inflict ing 300 casualties.
