H. P. Nordwlclc. . The 1014 meeting was held In the home of Mrs. Theodore Malmgren In Phoenix. Members went to the meet- Ins from Medford by "autobus." At that pre-war aeaslon the club was asked to appoint a committee to cen sor moving pictures on Saturday afternoons. A discussion was held on the Montessarl and Froebel educa tional systems. The club decided that the public school wss faulty snd predtoted that radical changes would be brought about In the near future. Mrs. Alice Wlllltts reviewed J. R. Tolkien's book "The Hobblt." While Intended primarily for children, the book makes Interesting reading for any age, the club decided. Refreshments were aerved by Mrs. W. P. Campbell and her committee, Mrs. Qeorge B. Canode. Mrs. Ira Ohastaln, Or. Eva Mains Carlow, Mrs. George Carter and Miss Ora Cox. Christmas Party Held By Circle Annual Christmas party was given Tuesday afternoon In the church parlors by Fidelity circle of the First M. B. church. Decorations carried out the Yule tide motif. The program Included the story of the "Three Wise Men," singing of carols, exchange of gifts from a Christmas tree and devotlonals. A collation was aerved by the hostesses. EMPIRE Yule Fete Is Held By Nevita Chapter: III Children Aided Nevita chapter 93, 0-E4-, of Central Point held it annual Chrlstmaa party Tuesday evening In the Masonic temple. Main feature of the program was a "Christmas Oarden " presented by Mrs. Evelyn Skyrmsn, Mrs. Ethel Freeman. Mrs. LUUe Holt, Mrs. Ethel Stlmpson. Mrs. Mabel Bennett, Mrs. Lollta Massey, Mrs. Bertha Bonne y. Mrs. Margaret Swing and Mrs. Beulah Paber. During this part of the program a special basket of gifts from the offl cers was brought In by Mrs. Freeman for little Joan Collins who was re cently taken to the Shrine hoepltal In Portland for treatment. Joan is the niece of the worthy matron, Mrs Clara Vincent. In concluding the entertainment three carolers entered the chapter room singing "Silent Night" and led the members In old-time Christmas songs. The gift exchange caused much merriment. The glfte later were re- wrapped for mailing to the children's ward at the Shrine hospital. The chapter rooms were attractive ly decorated with silvered cones, pine and laurel branches. The worthy matron decorated the large Chrlstmae tree and presented It to the chapter. The dining room was also decorated In keeping with the Christmas theme. Sprigs of mistletoe In the form of buttonleres marked each place. Large bowls of mistletoe and red blossoms centered the tables and were flanked by red tapers. Committees In charge were: Pro gram, Mrs. Everett Faber and Mrs. Merritt Swing; decoration, Mrs. Clara Vincent, Mrs. Elmer Kyle. Mrs. Gladys Beebe, Mrs. E. E. Scott, Mrs. Olive Dean and Mrs. Leonard Scott. During the business session the fol lowing officers were elected for the coming yesr: Mrs. Ivan Skyrmsn. worthy matron; Mr. Leonard Scott, worthy patron; Mrs. Everett A. Faber, associate matron; Mr. Hensely Holt, associate patron; Mrs. Hampton T. Pankey, secretary; Mrs. Edward C. Faber, treasurer; Mrs. Merrltt Swing, conductress, and Mrs. Pearl Bonney, associate conductress. Tueaday evening, December 37 was set as the date for Installation. Cen tral Point lodge 103, A. F. & A. M.. will join with Nevita chapter for the Installation ceremonies. Mrs. Skyr man has selected Mrs. Bryden Sander son aa Installing officer, assisted by Mrs. Elmer Kyle as marshal, Mrs. Warren Noroross ss chaplain and Mrs. Sam Kohler as organist. All members of Nevita chapter and of Masonic lodge 103, A. F. & A. M., and their families are especially In vited to be present. As Installation Is held In open meeting, visitors are welcome. Alpha Delta Class Holds Yule Party Annual Christmas party of the Alpha Delta class of the First Chris tian church waa held Thursday after noon. The luncheon and business meeting were followed by group sing ing. Mrs. Susan' Ends gave the devo tional and Mrs. B. E. Ford read the prsyer. During the business meeting an election of officers wss held. Elected were: President, Mrs. Lester Chllds: vice president, Miss Caroline Leaders, secretary -treasurer, Mrs. F. W. Qray; teacher, Mrs. X. J. Sawyer; assistant teacher, Mrs. Cora Archer. Mrs. p. c. Latham and group hsd charge of the social hour. Gifts wure distributed to 30 guests. Decorations were a large Christmas tree and greens. Kurta told of the origin of Christmas carols and traced their development from the lath century to the present at last Monday's luncheon-meeting of the Zonta In ternational club In the Hotel Med ford. Mrs. Kurt also described the part women have played In the de velopment of music. The club votod to omit the next regular meeting which would have taken place on December 36. Add half a cup of sugsr to the yolks while they are being beaten and a quarter cup of sugar to the whites after they have been beaten very stiff. Mix the egg whites with the yolks. Stir In a pint of rich cream and pink of milk. Add a pint of whiskey snd an ounce of Jamaica rum. Stir thoroughly. Serve the agg-nogg very cold and with grated nutmeg on each cup. This recipe makes ftvt pint of egg-nogg. bring his own table service, two covered dishes, bread and butter sandwiches but no meat or dessert. (UPl Washlngton"s old age pension pro gram was endangered today when the federal social security board notified state officials It would withdraw fed eral matching funds If the state pays pensions to persons not In ned of them. The warning was an outgrowth of the recent state supreme court ruling In the Joanna B. It is plan ned to duplicate as nearly as pos sible the organization meeting with some of the same speakers to honor the past presidents and early work ers, making the day a county coun cil "rounders day. A report on membership showed that while a few units had In creased their membership, several were not yet up to lst year's mark, making It advisable to continue the membership drive. All units reported good attendance at . citings and much interest in the work. Singing of Christmas carols by the entire group and the serving of re freshments added to the enjoyment of the Wednesday meeting. Guild Will Hold Christmas Party Crater Lake Guild of the Presby terian church will hold its annual Christmas meeting on Wednesday evening, December 21, at the home of Marjorle Fisk on Route 1. This will be the white Christmas meet ing end members are asked to bring gifts for the tree. The gifts will later be distributed under the direction of Miss Gertrude Watzling.
