THREE Society and Clubs By Clara Roxane Ruhl Will Have Church Rites In New York City A number of valley residents re ceived wedding Invitations yesterday from New York City to attend the marriage rites of Mlsa Roxane Page Ruh to Mr. Charles Herbert Sim mons, Jr. Miss Ruhl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Ruhl of this city, has chosen Brick Presbyterian chinch on Park Avenue and Eighty-fifth street for her wedding place. The ceremony will be performed Thurs day, December 29 at 4 o'clock and will be followed by a reception at 4:30 o'clock In the Cosmopolitan club at 129 East Sixty-fifth street. Vincent Home Scene Christmas Luncheon for 0..5. Members On Saturday afternoon last, Mrs. Ed Vincent, worthy matron of Ne vlta chapter number 03, O. E. S., entertained at a Christmas luncheon Her guests Included the regular of ficers and Installation officers of the chapter. Tables were attractively appointed with decorations of a Christmas mo tif. The larger table was centered with a bowl of holly flanked by four red tapers. Smaller tables held a centerpiece of red taper in a nest of holly. Miniature Christmas trees marked the places of the guests and Yuletlde greens and a lighted tree added much to the festtveness and gayety of the affair. Following luncheon, Mrs. Vincent presented each guest with a report card to record their achievements for the afternoon. A gold star on each card was emblematic of the splendid work each officer had com pleted during the year. Mrs. Pearl Bonney was the recip ient of a prize. The guest list included Mrs. Bry den Sanderson, Installing officer; Mrs. Elmer Kyle, Installing marsh all; Mrs. Warren Norcioss, Installing chaplain: Mrs. Ellis Clark, Junior past matron, and the following regu lar officers: Mesdames Ivan Skyr man, Everett Faber, Merrltt Swing, Hampton Pankey, Edward C. Faber. Sam Kohler, Hensley Holt, Lloyd Stlmpnon. Carl Bennett, Guy Tex. Pearl Bonney and Leonard Scott. Royal Neighbors Elect Officers The Royal Neighbors, at their regular monthly business meeting nominated and elected the follow ing officers for the coming year at their recent session: Oracle, Myrtle Arnold; vlce-oiacle. Mabel Lynch; past oracle, Ethel Latham: chancellor, Grace Wakefield: recorder, Irene Shirley; receiver, Nora Glascock; marshal. Com Ba shaw; inner sentinel. Gladys G1I man: outer sentinel. Donna Taylor; manager, Elsie Alexander and physic ians, Dr. C. T. Sweeney and Dr. W O. Bishop. The oracle will select her appointive officers by the first of the year. Mrs. Anna Hodgkins was welcomed Into the camp as a new member. At the conclusion of the meeting. Mrs. Gladys Oilman, Mrs. Margery Pearson and Louis Bashaw served re freshments. St. Mark's Group Forms Society A group of young members of St. Mark's Episcopal church recently or ganized a club which Is known as the Young Girls Friendly society. At their first meeting last week, a pot luck supper was enjoyed after which officers were elected as fol lows: President, Evelyn Watson; Bethel Slagle, vice-president and Peggy Reter secretary-treasurer. Miss Marjorle Kelly is the adviser for the group and directors are Mrs. Margaret Fabrick and Father E. S. Bartlam. All young women of the church are cordially Invited to participate In the new organization. Portlander Here for Brief Visit Mrs. Rose O. Schleffeltn had as her house guest at her hqme on South Holly street last evening Mrs C. A. Painton of Portland. Mrs. Painton has visited in Med ford on previous occasions and 1 well known here. Mary Davis Bride-Elect Feted at Pre-Nuptial Affairs Recently Several very enjoyable pre-nuptial parties last week feted Miss Dorothy Culy, bride-elect. On Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Kelllngton on Holly street, members of Miss Culy'a sewing club participated in a mis cellaneous shower party for her. Guests included Mrs. Victor MUnes. Margaret Ray. Mrs. Catherine Nee ley. Mrs. Elizabeth Hooper, Mrs. Frank Bellinger. Mrs. Tom Roseberry, Mrs. A. B. Culy. Miss Margaret Culy and the honoree. Dorothy Culy. Following an afternoon of sewing, tea was served. The bride-elect re ceived many attractive gifts during the affair. Another pleasant party was given Friday evening at the home of Mrs. C. N. Culy when the latter, Mrs. Louis Putman and Mrs. Dan Ohrt entertained with a kitchen shower for the future bride. Guests bidden to this event were Mesdames J. E. McAllister. Wiley Phares, Robert Buckles. A. B. Culy. M. L. Daily. Darell Nichol. Gale Culy. G. Gale, Fred Owen, Lutie B. Dally and E. J. Klein. The Misses Helen McAllister, Margaret Culy and Louise Ladd. Miss Culy. daughter or Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Culy will become the bride of Leonard Klein, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Klein of this city. The couple are prominent members of the younger set here and very well known. Their marriage will be an event of Christmas day at a 1 o'clock ceremony at the Culy home on 39 North Peach street. The Rev. James M. Hamilton will officiate at the wedding service. Guest Artists Here for Symphony Concert Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Van Dyke and daughter. Miss Marcia, arrived In the valley yesterday from Bur 11 n game, Cal. They went to Grants Pass last evening where they were to visit relatives. Miss Marcia will be the guest artist appearing tomorrow evening with the Southern Oregon Symphony orchestra when It Is .presented in concert at 8:15 o'clock in the Med ford senior high school. She return ed to Med ford this morning to prac tice with the orchestra. Henry Treager. pianist and accom panist, arrived In Medford on the train this morning. During his stay he will be the house guest of Mrs. Margaret Fabrick. Both Miss Van Dyke and Mr. Trea ger come to Medford with reputa tions of being truly splendid music ians. They are young, eager and at tractive and it is with much antici pation that their appearance tomor row evening is regarded. Today, the artists were entertained for luncheon at the home of Mr and Mrs. John R- Knight on West Main street. Mr. Knight Is director of the orchestra and Mrs. Knight is a member of the orchestra. Medical Wives to Gather Tomorrow The Auxiliary of the Jackson County Medical Society will hold Its annual Christmas party tomor row afternoon at the home of Mrs. R. J. Conroy. 200 Medfoid Heights. Luncheon will be enjoyed and all wives of doctors in the county are Invited to attend this event. P.T.A. Activities Friday, December 18, the Oak Grove P.-T. A. will hold a regular meeting at the school house at 3 o'clock. A supervised room for small children will be iwd by the mothers during the session.
