Inc., at a meeting In the First National bank last night. M. N. Hogan, chest president, presided. The directors discussed delinquen cies In last year's campaign, It being reported that none of the Commun ity Chest participating agencies had received their final monthly allot ment because of the non-payment of last Installments on 1937-38 pledges. The meeting expressed the hope that the delinquencies would be paid without further delay so that It would not be necessary to. curtail the work of the agencies. Larry Schade, chairman, Eugene Thorndlke and Mrs. Leonard Carpen ter were appointed a nominating committee to report a slate of new officers at the regular November meeting. Present at last night's meeting were M. N. Hogan, president, Mrs. Leonard Carpenter, vice president, Eugene Thorndlke. treasurer, Larry Schade, representing the Boy Scouts, Mrs. O. B. Morrow, Girl Scouts, Mrs. J. C. S. WelUs, Jackson County Pub lic Health association, Oeorge T. Prey, Red Cross, Capt. Reginald H. Vincent. Salvation Army, and Miss Ruth Meusel, secretary. (&) For the first time In a quarter of a century. Oregon sportsmen will be permitted to shoot antelope for five days be ginning Friday. The season will be restricted to Lake, Harney and Malheur counties. In addition to the regular hunting licenses, resident hunters must pay special $5 fee and non-resident hunters 925. Hunters wilt be required to check In and out of the areas designated by the state game commission. No hunting will be permitted from high ways, automobiles or horseback. Union representatives called the strike for last Monday, but cancelted the call at the request of the gover nor for an arbitration meeting. Workers seek a 10 per cent wage increase through uniform contracts throughout the state. D. Fisher aald the young ster, Charlea Greene, waa arrested af ter the body of Joyce Arrlngton was found near her mountain home last Monday.
