PAGE TWO MEDFORD MATL TRTBtTNTE. MEDPOTW. OREOON". WEDXESDAY, JUNE 29. 1938. OP TO NEW PEAKS IN NEW YORK. June 29. (AP) Buying again swelled to record breaking proportion! (or 1838 In the New York stock exchange to day, hurling prices of leading liauea up II to (d a share, many to peak prices for the year. Building material, steel, agrlcul tural, chemical and various Indus trials led the advance, but It broad' ened to include virtually the en tire list, with rails and utilities registering the widest gains in months. The turnover approximated 2,700. 000 shares, largest for any day since October. After wavering for the past two days, the market resumed last week'a advance with striking vigor. Brokers said the fact that the list had been able to absorb a large volume of profit taking sales In the past two sessions without losing any aubstantlal part of last week'a record-breaking advance prompted fresh buying wave. Commission houses reported large buying from out-of-town branches and abroad. The day's business news contained few bright spots, such as the weekly report of electric power pro duction, showing the largest total since March, and the weekly petro leum figures, Indicating the largest reduction of gasoline stocks for any week In years. Early reports of freight movement on tho railroads for last week showed further gains. Today's closing prlcea for 32 se lected stocks follow: Al. Chem. & Dye . 170 Am.
