A small group of friend arranged a surprise affair Tuesday evening for Larry Schade, Jr., on the occasion of his 16th birthday. Various games provided entertainment for the eve ning, with refreshments served later. Six couples were guests for the no bost affair. Symphony Impresses in Third Appearance Here Many To Attend Weekend Events A number of Medford mother and former atudents of Oregon State col lege and the. Unlveralty of Oregon are planning to Tistt the two cam puses this week-end to attend spec lal festivities. Both tchools will observe Mothers Day week-ends, with the University combining Ita celebration with that of Junior Week-End. Among those planning to go are Mrs. R. W. Steams. Mrs. Tom Gil ford. Mrs. H. E. Conger. Mrs. O. W. Nellson. Mrs. L Throckmorton to Oregon State, and Mra Dolph Phlpps. Mrs. B. B. Lowry and numeroua others to the University of Oregon. Mrs. Lowry will also visit on the Oregon State campus. Mothers are expected to arrive on the Eugene campus Friday morning to participate In the all-campus luncheon to be held In the center of the campus. During thla time the queen of the week-end. Betty Pown all, will be crowned. The Associated Women students and the TWCA will serve tea In the afternoon at Oer llneer hall. Master Dance will present Its an nual dance recital at 8 o'clock In th evening, with the Junior Prom beolnnlm at 8 o'clock In McArthur court. A special eertion Is to be re nerved at the nrom for mothers. In addition to event specially ni.nnM for them, mothers will be honor meats at all Junior Week-end festivities. Gore One of the major eventa of Med ford 'a abservanoa of National Music Week was the concert presented last night at the high school auditorium by the Junior Symphony orchestra, under the direction of John R. Knight. The orchestra waa assisted by the Boys' and Girls' Glee clubs of tne high school under the very able leadership of Miss Floy oung. Thla was the third outstanding concert presented by thla group ol young players, the personnel ol wntcn Includes students from Gallce. Grants Pass, Jacksonville, Ashland, Eagle Point, Medford. Talent and Phoenix. Ecsldes affording students the oppor tunity to appear before an audience o! friends and eupportere. these con certs familiarise the young people with good music, and are given as a generous community service. The young soloists, Marcia van Dyke, violin, Verlyn Thomas, violin, Lerov Neff. cello. Blllle Wilson, French horn, and Mary Sheldon, flute deserve special mention aa also do the piano accompanists. Miss Gene vieve Brown, Miss Shirley Rlebel and Miss Carlotta, Wiseman. Words of commendation were heard on every side for the enterprise.
