Werder. a former track star at Stanford, and Burnett were closo friends, and both were employed by Oil companies. Their unusual romance with each ether'a wive began In November, 1938. Then both wive went to Reno and. lived together while establishing residence for divorce. The husbands batched together meanwhile and the wlvea were "swapped" after the divorces were ob tained.
