(AF) Filing of a new long distance telephone rate ofcedule for interstate calli wa an nounced 07 N. B. Powley, president of the Pacific Telephone and Tele graph company. Savings to patrons were estimated it approximately $290,000 annually. The new schedule will be filed with the federal communications commis sion to become effective Decem ber 1. Powley said the reduction was the third of the year. The estimated benefit to telephone users on the Pa CJAc coast was figured at (800,000. "The maximum reductions for a three-minute conversation for the longest haul in our territory." Powley said, "approximate $3.70 for day sta tion -to-statlon service and (4.60 for day person -to-person service." Examples of reductions In a table accompanying Powley's statement vrvny, for station-to-station service from San Francisco to Portland, Ore., cut from $3.45 to $2.00; to Seattle, from $4.15 to $2.30; to Spokane, Wn., from $4.66 to $2.50. Shelton Ranch-Flora Junction sec tion of Lewlston -Enterprise highway, p. 14 miles of grading to Colonial Con struction company, Spokane, on bid of 75,656. Two bridges over Rock creek and Wallowa river in Wallowa county, to Tom Lillebo, Reedsport, on bid of $34,154. Stuffed Chops. 3 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon minced onion H cup bread crumbs ij teaspoon Schilling Chili Pepper Spanish Blend yA teaspoon salt Dash of Schilling black pepper 6 chops, cut double. Cook onion In butter until tender. Add crumbs, seasonings, and brown. Have butcher cut chops one inch thlek, slicing a pocket In each. Fill with about IVi tablespoons of the stuffing.
