OREGON, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 1936. 1937 BUDGET ESTIMATES JACKSON COUNTY Pursuant to tho provisions of Section 8, Chapter 440 of ths 1933 Session laws of Oregon, notice Is hereby given that the County Court of Jackson County, Oregon, will meet at the Court House, In Medford, Oregon, on the 30lh day of November, A O. 1936, at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A. M. of said day and at the sold time and place opportunity will be given for a full and complete discussion of the estimate of the amount of money proposed to De raised oy taxation lor the ensuing year as puousned nerewltn, by any taxpayer subject to such levy when made In favor of or against any of the proposed tax levies nerein as the county court may deem zor mo best in terest of Jacsson County. The County Budget Committee for Jackson County, Oregon, has pre pared and submits the following: An estimate of the amount required for each department of county govornment, county office and county oincer, each County Improvement, the maintenance of each County building, struc ture or Institution, the salary or eacn county onicer or employee, inutiding those whose salaries are fixed by statute, for the Improvement and main tenance of public highways, roads, bridges, the construction, operation and maintenance of each public utility and redemption of outstanding warrants, the estimate of the public receipts of the County from sources other than direct taxation upon rcnl and personal property In the County during the period for which such tax la to be levied and an estimate of the probable unapportloned and unexpended balance In the funds of the County on the last day of the current yearThe officers' salaries, the County School Pund for 10,000 children at 410.00 per child, the County School and School Library Fund for 10.000 children at 10 cents per child and the county Library Pund t .0002 of a mill are all fixed by law. WEEKS Committeeman 10 OF IS SALE CULLS The elimination of B&rtlett culls from future cannery sales was dis cussed by the Rogue River Valley Traffic association at its weekly luncheon-meeting at the Hotel Hoi '.and Thursday. No definite actK n was taken but plans were made for fur ther consideration. It was brought out that elimina tion of culls would raise the price of prime pears. The meeting was in formed that about one-quarter of the Bartletts canned in California Inst -cason were culls. It was stated that if the canneries were compelled to take only quality 264.04 pears it would not be necessary to 263.50 Ship so many to the fresh fruit re tail markets and therefore a better price structure could be maintained all the way around. R. W. Smart's summer romance probably departed when he was denied recovery of gifts lavished upon a fair lady. Smart, resident of The Dalles, lost a suit In District Judge George Nor rls Wood ley's court against Mrs Elm Roemer, to whom he said he one was engaged. He sought to regain possession of three diamond rings one he said was the engagement to ken and other gifts valued at 9230. The Judge said even though one of the rings was an engagement ring there was nothing In the law to re quire Its return.
