irEDFOUT) MAIL TRTBTjyE. rEDFOKD. QKEGOy, FRIDAY. MAKCH 13. 1906. PAGE SEVEN FACTURERS OF V1CKS PLAN ADDED PLANT MSI OREEN8BORO, N. O, March IS. (Spl.) Plans by Vlcks for further ex pansion of Its production facilities In Greensboro were announced today by L. Richardson, president of Vlck Chemical company. These plans call for a separata laboratory for exclu sive production of Vlcks Medicated Cough Drops one of Vlcks latest products the new plant to be com pleted and In operation by mld-sum-nvr. This step Is but one In a program of expansion that View carried on throughout the years of depression more than doubling lta employment rolls during that period. Pour years ago. In both Greensboro and Phila delphia. Vlck laboratories were con siderably enlarged and facilities add ed to tske care of new products pro duction. Two years later, these facili ties In Philadelphia had to be in creased by hlaf again, to meet in creasing production quotas from both domestic and export departments. Last year, the steadily growing de mand for Vlcks VapoRub and Vlcka Va-tro-nol made necessary extensive alterations and added equipment In the Greensboro laboratories. Increased production facilities are now found necessary for Vlcks Cough Drops. Introduced four years ago, Vlcka Cough Dtop won Immediate nationwide popularity and la now the leader In Its particular field. The new cough drop laboratory here will be a two-story brick struct ure with 15,000 square feet of floor space. Layout and assembly were planned by a leading firm of Indus trial engineers. Bids are already In on construction work and equipment has been ordered. The latter includes especially built mixing, filling and packaging machinery required for the production of Vlcks Cough Drops, as well as the most modern and up-w date alr-oondltionlng and other mlS' cellaneous equipment necessary. Addition of this modern cough drop unit here Is In line with Vlcks pol icy of a dual laboratory supply sys. tem (Greensboro and Philadelphia) by which each center s able to supply all Vlck products to Its natural distri bution area. Manufacturing quotas for each plant are based chiefly on carload freight rates to 35 warehouses. These warehouses, located at key a la trlbutlng points, in turn, supply Vlcks products quickly to the coun try's wholesale and retail druggists. This manufacturing and distributing system not only Insures against .strikes, fire or shortages, but gives Quickest possible deliveries to the trade. . of dough Into strip, 3 inches wide and Vi Inch thick; line aides of 8x8x2 Inch pan, fitting closely Into corners.
