Balrd can boast to day of having brought down a large buck but the venison turned out to be extremely costly. The pastor of the First Christian church used neither rifle, knife nor arrow. In fact, he bagged the deer with hi automubile. The minister was returning to Med ford after conducting a religious ser vice at the Diamond Lake CCC camp. Half way-bet wren Diamond lake and Union creek a big buck sprang out into the road in the path of Mr. Balrd's car. Dazzled by the head li slits, the buck danced back and forth. The car crashed into the ani mal and death was almost instanta neous. y The automobile was badly da ma cod and It was necessary to have it towed about 70 miles to Medford. A head light was smashed, one fender was bend and the othpr rumpled and the grille and radiator were broken. The Rev. Mr. Balrd Is now at Fre mont, Neb., where he Is conducting evangelistic services. He is expected back the latter part of November. ! His friends say that he considers the deer much too expensive.
