VTT OPENING MONDAY A combined vacation Bible school under the Joint sponsorship of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches Is to open its first session. Monday. 9 a. m. The school Is to be of two weeks duration and under direction of Don Huckabce. Mr. Huckabee. working in co-operation with Rev. Peterson of the Presbyterian church, and Rev. Knotts of tho Methodist church, hat prepared an extremely Interesting and valuable program for the boys and girls who attend. The vacation school will offer work In the following fields: A course in "Learning about our Christ." A hclpfin and entertaining study of the meaning of church forms and equtpment. The class is to be under direction of Rev. Peter son. The work will be in the form of a daily worship service conducted by and with the children. For the children, a study or "Ood and the Beautiful." A good treatment of a worthwhile thought. The course will introduce to the children the best In music, art, and Nature; and will strive to bring about an appre ciation based on an understanding of the thoughts In the minds of the creators. This course will be given by Mrs. English of the Girls' Com munity club. Several courses in Bible study for the younger children. Theso courses will dcnl with the adventure stories of the Old and New Testaments and will be taught through the use of the Hero story and Free Drama. In addition to the above, there will be organized recreation and drama under the supervision of competent directors. At tho conclusion of the school there will be a picnic for the stu dents nnd a graduation exercise with a display of tho handiwork and ac complishments of the children. A cordial invitation Is extended to every boy and girl between the ages of six and fifteen to be present from the very first day. Following la a partial list of the faculty: Mrs. O. E. OF SERVICE HERE SUNDAY Grants Pass Presbyterian Young People will have charge of a service at the Mrdford Presbyterian church Sunday evening from 7:30 to 8:30. Songs, talks, and worship will be in the nature of a Fir Point Summer Conferenco rally. Fir Point Confer ence grounds are a recent gift to Southwest Oregon Presbytery from Dr. and Mrs. J. K. Howard. They are nltuntrd near Olendnle In a beauti ful mountain setting. Last year, the first that the Young People's Conference was held on these grounds, a large dining and recreation hall and a swimming pool were constructed. This year a girls' dormitory Is in tho process of erec tion. Tho beautiful Howard home Is used for class work and faculty head quarters. The Medford young people extend to all friends of the church a cordial invitation to attend the In teresting rally program which the Grants Pass young people will bring Sunday evening. At six o'clock, the local young peo ple will be hosts to the Grants Pass delegation at a social hour. Refresh ments will be served by the ladles of the Sunny Sister's circle. A short program is being plnnned for this hour by Miss Paulino Chaniplnln. At slx-ihlrly there will be a Christian Endeavor meeting with Alice D. Eng lish leading a discussion on "The Influence of Personality." Miss Elea nors Poffcnbergcr will sing at this Aen Ice. I Dr. O. C. Since .retiring from that work he has been employed by the National Baptist Promotion Board of Missions of New York and do field deputation work. Immediately following his engage ment with the Mrdlord church he will go to Lode Grass. Mont., to be guest sinker at the annual conven tion of the Crow Indian Baptist as sociation. Last year at a similar meeting Ir. Wright was made a mem ber of the Crow Indian tribe and given the name "Shining Star." Some of his moving pu turvs tonight will be of the Crow Indians taken last summer. Dr. Wright has made a Ra cial study of Oregon pioneers and will show moving pictures of some historic places and describe pioneer events. Pictures of cscadia B. Y. P. U. assembly will nlso be shown.
