F. wai ter Kme were speakers at the m monthly meeting of the jackaon County Health association yesterday afternoon at the court house auai torhim. The meeting was attended by 45. Tea was wired by the Gold Hill ladlea, who were hostesses. Taking aa his subject the heart and It diseases, Dr. Wood gave an en lightening talk. Ha said that heart diseases have led the death rate since 1920 and are increasing In fatality rapidly, being responsible for one out of every five deaths. He divided the study of the heart Into three periods, the pre-sclence period, period of scientific Investiga tion, and period of scientific applica tion. In reviewing the period of scientific Investigation, Dr. Woods said Harvey was the first to prove circulation of blood, In an experiment with the body of a hanged man conducted In 1815. His rrport on this discovery Is considered a classic today, Dr. Woods aid. The speaker gava modern unfavor able living conditions as the cavwe of the high death rate from heart disease. Dr. Flndley' subject was sex edu cation. In which he declared that an appalling situation exists, chiefly In tht better class of families. He said that In most Instances parent arc to blame for lack of proper sex edu cation among children. He advised parents to better Inform themselves and to conBUlt the family physician in sex problems Just as in other health problems. Dr. Krcsse's subject was childhood problems. In an Interesting view of the difficulties confronting the mod ern parent In properly rearing chil dren, he aald that fear la the great est cause for misbehavior. YOUNG DWARFED GIRL ROSTOV. Ttuasla (XTP) Dwarf children may grow to normal height In the future as a result of an ex periment by Prof. Nikolai Bogoraas of the Rostov Surgical clinic Recently a girl, who appeared to be four yenrs old, was brought to the clinic. Actually be was 11 and a pupil In the fourth grade. Her sub normal size waa due to the under development of the hypopheae gland, an appendix of the brain, which In fluenced growth. Bogoraz took the hypopheae gland from the head of a young man who had died In an automobile accident an hour nud a hnlf earlier. He tested the blood of both bodies to deter mine their consanKUlnlty than trans ferred the gland Into the left shoulder artery of the dwarf girl. Six months later tha chtld had grown eight centimeters taller, A second similar transfusion In creased her height by six centi meters more. Her growth Is still continuing. BogoraE waa cautious In speaking of the result of his experiment. Saying: "From tha broad viewpoint of medical science, of course, a few uch successful experiments are not conclusive.
