During the 12 months of operation for the Central Point plant, 850,000 pounds of surplus milk have been purchased from farmers of this locality, at a return to the farm ers in excess of $10,000. Ninety thou sand pounds of cheese have been pro duced, most of this amount being consumed locally. Six weeks will be required to com plete the bridge and the necessary grading and paving of the highway Railway traffic will be sent over the new bridge aa soon aa the steel gird era are placed and the shoo-fly !s torn out. This is expected to require about two weeks. Qradlng and pav ing will begin with the removal af the shoo-fly and will take two weeks to finish. Before traffic will be per mitted to travel the new section of highway it will be necessary to have the pavement set for another tno weeks. Sardine Creek SARDINE CREEK. Nov. 16. (Spl.) Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutherland oi Portland drove here Friday to spend the Armlstlve holiday visiting the latter's mother, Mrs. Eva Newton. and other relatives. They returned home Monday, accompanied by Mrs. E. C. Plene, who will visit in Port land with her sister, daughter and other relatives. , Earl Croft, who has been In the Sacred Heart hospital in Mcdford the past two weeks for medical treat ment, returned to his home here this week and Is rapidly convalescing. Mrs. Edtth Starns and Mr. and i Mrs. Don Harmon of Grants Pa&s were visiting relatives here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Biles ana Mr. and Mrs. John Wilde, who have been staying on the R. W. Dusenberry plAce, moved Wednesday to their place north of Grants Pass, where they will engage in cutting wood. Ed Shipley has been engaged in plowing and seeding grain cn the Croft place the past week. Mrs. Mildred Wright, who has been ill for some time, was taken to the Community hospital In Medtord Wed nesday for medical treatment. Word has been received here of the arrival of a baby girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Starns at Grants Pass November 13. The young lady Is a great granddaughter of Mrs. Eva Newton. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Elhart and son, Billy, and Phillip Lindaey oi Ashland were visiting friends and relatives here Sunday and Monday. George Ring and two sons, Richard and Charles, who have been 111 with malaria fever for some time are much Improved at present. Madge Croft, who has been attend ing business coIIcrq in MeOfcrd for the past year, was obliged to re turn to her home here to assist with the work during the Ulnpw of her father, Earl Croft. Mrs. Eva Newton and her brother, Curtis Miller, who he both been quite ill for the past two weeks, are both slightly improved and all hope for their speedy recovery. Eden Precinct EDEN PRECINCT, Nov. 18. (Spl.) Scth Parker program, given at the bchool gymnasium Monday evening; was not a largely attended as it : might have been, owing to ArmiMlce night. The program was well re ceived. Many of the farmers are doing early butchering since the cool wea ther. The grange will hold a get-together meeting with the church peo ple at the Presbyterian church Sun day. The meeting is for the church and the Grange and their families. AKRON, O. tUP) Men student at Akron University have voted against compulsory military training by a 235 to 162 vote. H. E.
