E, Helnrlch, Berkeley crimi nologist, will receive $763.43 from Klamath county In connection with his Investigations Into the Horace M. Manning case here recently. The amount the county Is willing to pay Is about one-third the bill the criminologist submitted for pro fessional services and materials. He asked $2362.48 for his activities on behalf of the prosecution. Manning, prominent attorney, was acquitted on a plea of self defense for the shooting of Ralph Hornn, his former law partner and member of the state legislature. Helnrlch was the key witness for the state. The photograph of a fin gerprint on one of the two guns taken from the death room was of fered as evidence but later was identified as one accidentally placed there by the expert. Both state and defense attorneys believed the Incident materially re duced the strength of the prosecu tion's case.
