The lake will be about a halt an acre in size, and will be ready to have the water turned Into It within a few days, according to word received here from Austin 8. Raymond. The swimming pool Is expected to be ready for bathers some time this month. Fishing ln the lake at Patrlck'a Creek Tavern will not be ready for about two years, he aald, due to the fact that the fish must be raised from eggs. A shipment of 10.800 rainbow trout eggs were delivered to the Ray mond brothers, from Troy, Mont., on May 26. ln splendid condition. "In about three weeks the little rainbows will begin to hatch, and at the end of two years, dinner guests at the tavern will see rainbow trout listed on the menu," Mr. Raymond stated. Fishing ln Patrick's creek and Smith river has been good this spring, and many guests have been able to make fine catches, according to reports. BRITISH READY TO CLOSE NET ON DRUG RING LONDON. (UP) British customs authorities are closing the net about one of the most dangeroua gangs of International drug traffickers, It Is learned. The gang Is said to have widespread ramlflcatlona and agen cies. It hss been known for some time that large quantities of druga are be ing brought by air Into Britain from the continent. The difficulty . haa been to catch the smugglera red handed. The smugglers' planes rarely use the eame landing ground twice and, while oustoma preventive officers kept watch on the south coast, the drugs often were landed on the east coast. While the vigilance on the south ooaat waa not relaxed, new of ficers were drafted Into South Lin colnshire. It la known that at leaet three planes have landed aome lnllea In land from the Lincolnshire coast, and that the leaders of the traffickers In this country set up their headquar ters not far from Grantham. Recently, the commander of an At lantlo liner, homeward bound from New York, radioed the French and British customs authorities that he suspected that one of hit. passengers was carrying druga for disposal in Europe. Tho French authorities refused him permission to land. He had a almllar reception at Hamburg, and he waa forced to return In the same ship. He made the mistake, however, of landing at Southampton, where the customs officers were resdy tor him. Today, he Is In a British prison. The drugs were confiscated. ORANTS PASS,- June 9. (AP) Surrounded by firs which swept through his woodshed sleeping quar ters here tha young son of W. R. Burner escaped without burns In an early morning blaze today. The boy, about 10, waa sleeping In the roodshed when he awoke to find flames swirling around him and the mattress of the bed on which ha slept smoldering and smoking. The. fire department quickly check od tha blaze. Damage waa limited. (UP) The surest way back to prosperity for Ameri can agriculture is a return to a "horse baala," Dr. W. H. Lytle, head of the animal Industry division of the state department ot agriculture, de- . clared today. He aald the day of tne horss on farms of the nation waa returning, predicting proflta In horse breeding during the next few years. The disappearance of 10,000,000 horses and mules from rural Amer ica between 1020 and 1932 was re sponsible for a large measure of the economic Ills which have beset ag riculture, Dr. Lytle believes. Two-Fold Reason The reason, he said, waa two-fold. "We have but two ultimate consum ers In America man and the horse. Other farm animals cattle, sheep, hogs and poultry may be likened, to food and textile factorlea, convert- , Ing grass, hay, forage, cereals and grains Into more concentrated and more palatable ment products, and also Into raw textile materials, wool and leather." The horses which vanished remov ed the market for products of at least 40.000,000 acree of American farm land, Lytle said. Aa a result there was a ehlftlng of production. "Dairy cows were added to eat up the oata and bay. Sheep were added to utilize the posture formerly used ' by horses. Mora hogs were raised to ' eat up the excess corn. More poul- ; try waa raised to convert the cheap- . ened farm grains Into eggs. In tha end we find ourselves confronted with a farm aurplus." Owe for Machinery The second depressing factor waa the purchase of two billion dollars worth ot tractora and tractor equip ment by farmers during the period, Lytle aald. Because of continued de cline In prices, farmers are still In debt for probably the larger part of tbe purchases.
