YULE CONCERT AT TO FEATURE HOLIDAY One of the entertaining miulcal events of the coming week which Is attracting a full measure of Interest among the music lovers of the vi cinity Is the Christmas concert to be given by the Jacksonville Orange chorus Wednesday evening, December 20, at 8:15, in the Jacksonville Grange hall. The program, which Includes the cantata "Beethoven,' piano and or gan duet, and chorus and solo fea tures, is pen to the public. There will be no admission charge, but a stiver offering will be taken to be used In purchasing new music for the chorus. (AP) San Francisco milk distributors have notified the city department of pub lic health there will probably be a cream shortage after January 1, ne cessitating a general Increase of 60 cents a gallon In the price of cream for San Francisco. January 1 Is the date' when the new city ordinance providing that all commercial cream must come from tuberculin tested cows becomes ef fective. Brlstow, Okla., no longer has a white way." The city officials turned off the lights to save money. AT FOR SEVEN YEARS IE! During 1934 the great American government the government of the United SUtes of America will lay the foundation for the greatest war ever conducted under the American flag, according to a brochure entitled "1934 and War," Issued by the grand lodge of the Rosier uc lan Order. AMORC, with national headquarters at San Jose, Cal., and received offic ially by Dr. C. R. Sim kins of 542 South Ivy street, Medford, local com mt&sloner of the society. The bro chure further states that the great war will last probably seven years. It will be a war principally between the citizens of the United States. It will be' the world's most unique war, It Is declared, because It wilt be war of construction Instead of destruction It Is to be war against the greatest enemies corruption, crime, syndical ism and civic sluggishness. It will not be fought with machine guns or poison gas, but with the weapons of new Ideals, tolerance, development of culture and freedom of individual ex pression. The brochure prophesies the even tual .results of this unique combat. It states, according to Dr. Sim kin, that President Franklin D. Roosevelt will be the last President of the Unit ed States to .function and supervise affairs of this nation In the same manner or under the same constitu tional rules. The new form of gov ernment will be an Intelligent dicta torship. It predicts tue formation of an anti-crime movement which will have chapters In every community. and whose duty will be to instruct the younger people in the fundamen tals of ffood citizenship. It asserts that the liquor industry will face a serious problem because of decreased desire for liquor not anticipated by the manufacturers. It declares the department of Justice activities will be broadened to Investigate the neg ligence of state officials In the en forcement of law. The brochure concludes with the statement that the real power of the country Is the future will be placed in the hands of those who have shown and demonstrated the ability to gov ern and control their own personal affairs and make a success of their Uvea. It will place those who are in different about their own progress and high standing In the social stand ards of the nation beyond any power to Influence or direct the affairs of the nation. Just above 8noqualamie falls, collapsed and fell Into the Snoquala mle river near midnight last night after 'a huge gasoline truck had crashed Into the railing, and burst into flames. The heat of the burning gasoline melted the steel girders of the span, causing the north half of the bridge to plunge into the river, 20 feet be low. The remainder of the bridge soon followed. the circuit court, may move for re versal of the conviction or the dis missal of the charges. FEDERAL LIQUOR CASES TO DROP UTILITY BATTLES GAS RATE SLASH SAN rRANOISC, Dee. IS. (F) The United States circuit court of appeals for the ninth district, com posed of the western Unled States, ruled today that repeal of the 18th amendment deprives federal courts of the power of proceeding to final Jud. ment In cases of persons charged with violation of the national pro hibition act. The court ruled that congress had lost sll power granted it by the 16th amendment by the repeal In the states. Territories, where the power of congress is plenary, are however, excluded. The ruling means that those per sona who have been charged with violation of the national prohibition act and who have not been brought to trial, and those who have been convicted and appesled their cases to SAN FRANCISCO. Dec. 18. (AP) The Psdflc Osa and Electric company today asked the United States dis trict court for a restraining order pre venting the California Railroad com mission from enforcing Its order of November 13 reducing the utility's natural gas rate by 3, 100,000 an nually. The motion waa accompanied by nine affldavlta signed by A. P. Hock enbeamer. president of the company. and eight other offlclala of the utility. claiming the commission's decision waa discriminatory and confiscatory. The case waa assigned to Federal Judge A. F. St. Sure. TEST OF PORTLAND, Dec. 18. (AP) I. H. Van Winkle, atate attorney general, and Prank Orant. Portland city at torney, have agreed that a test of the constitutionality of the Knox liquor control law should be undertaken In the aupreme court. The two men met yesterdsy and reached this conclusion. It waa aald today, but they agreed the test should not be made until the bill haa been signed. It was further explained that cities of the state should make a thorough siuay or the new law, to determine what effect It will have on them and whether It would be to their ad vantage to agree to atate control or to exercise their own control under home rule.
