Garden Club Will Sponsor Annual Christmas Lighting Displays LIGHT FOR EVERY Elaborate Displays Not Urged Universal Adop tion of Idea Is Main Desire of Medford Sponsors A light In every borne, to shed Its friendly beams upon rather dark ened world, Is the request of the Medford Garden club for Cbrlstmaa eve, 1032. And every borne In the city, from the most humble to the moet palatial, Is asked to Join In the extensive program to make the com ing holiday a merry one and one In which the old time understanding of Christmas cheer ahall be reflected from street to street aa Christmas carols ring through the town. The annual Christmas lighting, to be sponsored again by the Medford Garden Club members, leaders In all local endeavors to bring a little more of beauty Into the life of the town, will be non-competlttve this year and It Is hoped more universal. Not Elaborate. Homes In which elaborate electrical displays cn be arranged are asked to make tbem even more brilliant than last year. Homes, la which displays ere financially Impossible, are asked to place a light In the window, a light on the porch, or a candle some where to throw Its light to the weary and the needy In memory of one, whose kindness extended to the most lowly. Living Christmas trees In spsrkltng dresses, lighted In festive colors, win appear on many lawns, according to expectations of the Osrden club. Wreaths will add a cheery note to windows and doorways and the mistle toe bough, will add romance to many rooms glimpsed from the street, be the weather calm or blustering when Christmas eve arrives. ' The Osrden club Is not asking for elaborate displays, except from those people who are planning, and oan eaally afford them, but Is asking everyone to add stray of light to Christmas eve. Candle In Can Good. - A candle In a pound coffee oan is very effective lighting fixture, Mrs. L. C. Williams, a member of the club suggested this morning, and all per sons who have' pitched camp under such a light will agree with her. If the weather la favorable church choirs will be asked to go through the city singing Christmas earols on the eve of the holiday. Many local people hied to the hills Sunday to ski. Those who Journeyed Into the Crater Lake area found 16 Inches of snow but the wind was so cold they did : ot do much skiing. Alomost everybody seems to have their own definite Ideas as to how their are going to decorate their own particular domicile or if they havent any definite Ideas when they start they collect them very quickly once they have acquired a few strings of Christmas bulbs. For the benefit of those who are even yet a bit hazy as to Just how they will proceed, here are a few suggestions as to ways In which very attractive effects may be gained. 1. Substitute a red lamp for the customary one In your entrance fix ture and put a wreath around It. 2. Place electric candles In Christ mas wreaths In your windows. (Elec tric candles are for safer than tho wax variety.) 3. Run colored lights through the trees and shrubbery on your grounds. 4. Place Christmas trees In tubs In the yard and trim them with strings of colored lights. , A. Bun strings of colored lights along your veranda, 0. Festoon strings of colored lights along the eaves of your house. 7. Place colored lights In your flower boxes. ' 8. Twine colored lights In wreaths or garlands and bang them In the windows or festoon them about the outside of the house. 9. Place Illuminated stars over the doors or on the roof of your house. 10. Illuminate your Christmas trees, both those used Indoors and those In the yard with strings of tiny electric lights. 11. Place colored lights, one red Lett yoaiiFltowim The California Oregon Power Company and one green, in twin sockets and place them In the windows. 13. Hang 111 unlimited Christmas bells in the entry or tn the windows. With these hints as to ways In which to achieve an effective light ing display, you can go ahead and work out your own Individual dis play. Tou may, of course, use any or all of the above suggestions If you wish. McCray, who for many years teemed' with the late Jim Mc Farland ah the "Two Macks." left the stsge four years ago after con tracting the yellow fever In Mexico, where he had been singing over station KXER. Re came to this lo cality for his health in Medford and has since been Interested In a min ing venture on Galls creek.
