That's a long time to watt for a Lloyd picture, and yet, as "Mov ie Crary." with Constance Cummings, the film, to break the long silence. unwound itself yesterday before howling, guffawing audience in the Craterlan theater, it seemed that Lloya! picture is worth waiting two years or even more to see. To say that "Movie Crazy" Is the best picture Lloyd has ever produced sounds like the utmost extravagance Yet the soberest consideration points to that conclusion. It is chuck full of brand new gags and of some of the old ones dressed up as new ones and funnier than ever. It has a good, con sistent story, a strong supporting cast, and Lloyd himself tops every previous characterization. Something has happened to the comedian m tthe last two years. He la a subtler, more mature, and generally better actor, and gives the Impression that he could carry a story by the force of his personality even if it were not gagged to the hilt with mirth-provoking situations. 4 Jackie Merkle Wins Audience at Holly "What'a this man holding?" asks Jackie Merkle's father. "A lady's hand" snaps back Jackie and the crowd at the evening performance at the Holly last evening virtually went into hysterics while Jackie gives a saucy Uttp smile, shakes his bushy head and says "ask me another." No one knows how he does It tout he Just does and that Is why little five-year-old Jackie Merkle Is the nation's newest sensation. When he blew into Hollywood recently he Immediately became the talk of the movie colony and soon everyone was asking Jackie all sorts of questions and he was giving them plenty of answers. Maga zines and newspapers featured the boy for here is a little fellow who has, to quote Photoplay, "beat Holly wood at Its own game." Ask Jackie anything and he snaps back the answer as tho It were a matter of record. Your first or last name, or both, the kind of car you drive, the size of your hat, tha name and number of the lodge to which you may belong are no mysteries to Jackie. Since his "discovery" Jackie has been the center of attraction of pro fessors and scholars In an effort to solve the mystery of this oh lid's re markable mentality and faculties. To accommodate those unable to see him yesterday tha Holly has an nounced that they will hold Jackie here until Wednesday. This will afford everyone an opportunity to sea this remarkable little chap before he leaves Medford to appear In the larg er cities.
