With but six game remaining to be played, Portland needs but four mora victories to become mathemati cally certain of th championship. The Ducks now lead Hollywood by three full games. Sept. 38. $) An unidentified hunter Saturday mistook a pure white horse for a deer and shot the horse out from under Jay Hlatt. Hlatt was riding through a clear ing In the timber In the mountains near Heppner. A hunter on a nearby ridge fired three tlmea, one bullet killing the horse, which, aa it fell, pinned Hlatt by one leg. The hunter disappeared when Hlatt cried out. Hlatt was severely bruised.
