Inc., is rapidly reaching that point when It will begin actual production of coal at its mine near Roxy Ann, six miles from Medford. Approximately 300 tons of bituminodV coal is ex pected to be .mined daily to fill present contracts. The company was organized last February by J. ' Madison Lively, Cold Hill, president and chief en gineer; V. L. Lamb, secretary and superintendent; William H. Lydi-j ard, treasurer. It is capitalized at $1.10,000, divided 'Into 1.000 pre ferred shares and 2,000 common stock shares. No sale of stock is solicited. . Near Production, The development Is located on what Is known as the Pat O'tteilly mountain on the Vawter estate. and was started September 1. The work has been completed with the exception of , constructing- coal bunkers and driving short entries Into rooms. The company has driven a 250 foot tunnel-of sufficient propor tions to permit, if required, elec tric locomotive for drawing trains of mine cars. The tunnel taps a 12 to 15-foot vein of good coal sufficient to fill all requirements of the present market for many yeans. There are millions of tons of A-l- hard .coal available in the field. At present there is 500,000 tons 'in that condition which west ern miners term "blocked out," or . ready for removal. There is good giavlty haul and water drainage. So Bituminous Vein. Tho tunneL cuts into the coal strata in this field, designated as vein number 2, which, lies in blanket formation -Inclined - north eastward about ten degrees. The strata shows from five to six feet if hard, bright' bituminous, six to wwen feet of shaley bituminous and Trom 12 to 15 feet of rCoal rich in by-products and carbon fuel. The comjlnny owns coal leases. In other fields near the one now being operated. They will bo developed later. The company has contracts for the daily delivery of 200 to 250 tons of coal for manufacturing purposes, and other contracts are under negotiation. Nearly t v o miles of new road have been con structed to the scene of operations from the Illllcrest-Ashland county road, east of Medford. "The Christmas Story In Scripture and Song" will be the first half of the program, during which the audience and choir wiil engage in antlphonal singing.
