CORD iLTHOUGH we have released no advertisements the general public is aware of this new car's approach, has diversified ideas aLout it, and has built up extreme expectations. Auburn appreciates the widespread interest n this original type of automobile, but' feels we have a responsibility unique in all automo bile history. No other manufacturer has ever been in this same position. Auburn has the industry's first production car of its kind, has a favorably expectant world wide audi ence, and has the exclusive opportunity to truthfully mate claims never before possi ble for any oilier motor car. i ; Therefore this earnest attempt to clarify the situation. : We will not introduce the new Cord front drive car as a "radical revolution." It creates an entirely new place never before occupied by any other car. We will offer it as an addition to our other products, being priced between our complete line of Auburn and Duesenberg cars. It is Auburn's contribution to automotive progress; it is leadership in the latest auto motive development; it is a hitherto una vailable type of car that creates a new place of its own. But we will not promote it as "marvel ous," "sensational" or as, "at last the perfect automobile." i In, one respect the Cord is like every other automobile ever built it is a me chanical vehicle. It differs basicly in the application of power to the front wheels instead of the rear wheels. Although we have no apologies to make for its design, structural strength and effi ciency, neither do we claim infallibility, which everyone knows is impossible in any mechanism. We do assure you it is extraordinarily ' well built. It is not an untried experiment. It can render you a quarter of a million miles of safer, easier and more economical ser vice. And it has many exclusive advantages that have a decisive appeal to more people than we even, anticipated. 13ut, do not ex pect a miracle! It is a certainty that the front-drive type of car has come to slay. It is equally certain that other progressive manufacturers must follow Auburn's leadership. And it is also certain that the manufacture of rear-drive cars will continue. , f Auburn enjoys priceless advantages through being first, through having a free field in which to try and select all methods, the pick of all engineers such as Harry A. Miller, and unhurried years for exhaustive research and development. The result is a product that is attracting unprecedented orders before it is even put on the market. Therefore, we hope this advanced state ment will counteract exaggerated rumors. The Cord car is not built for speed. It can not do the impossible. It is not "the com ing of the millennium." It is a man-made machine with many exclusive advantages that may or may not appeal to you. We invite you to find out for yourself when this new Cord Front Drive is soon introduced.
