Moy pra, local dealer. "The record Wiia made under the supervision of the American Automobile ajwoclatlon, The new feat of two Btudebaker cars began at the Atlantic City B peed way on April 20. It ended three days later when both cars flashed across the 6000 mile finish line, each having surpassed all endurance- and speed records of stock cars in their price lesas for that distance. "The first Dictator covered .the COOO miles in Til hours and 11 min utes, maintaining an average speed of over 63 miles per hour for the entire distance. The second Dicta tor averaged over CI miles per hour for the 6000 miles, making tho run In SI hours and 32 min utes. "It requires super-endurance for a car to truvol 6000 miles, in lewi than COOO minutes. Only re cently a car costing much more was forced to withdraw from a 24 hour race after it had covered loss than 1400 miles. Almost any car can run 60 miles an hour for a short time, but when it comes to maintaining that pace hour after hour, and day after day, the car must have been built of high qual ity materials to the most exacting precision standards and under rigid inspections. "Studebaker's purpose in having the Dictator make this sensational run was to prove the foregoing characteristics of Btudebaker cars and also the engineering genius embodied In the car the genius that gives this car 70 horsepower, yet permits it to be thrifty of gas and oil; the genius that permits you to drive it 40 miles an hour when It Is new 65 miles an hour later; the genius that makes it un necessary to change oil or to lubri cate the chassis oftener than every 2500 miles." ELEVEN-YEAR OLD PILOTS AIRPLANE In the whole realm of aviation, there probably Is no one more in sistent upon the fact that flying is simplicity Itself than Clarence Chuuiberlin, holder of the world's long distance flight record, and recognized by his fellow pilots as one of the most adroit flyers In the business. Furthermore, Cham ber 11 n practices what he preaches. An anecdote that he tells himself Illustrates tho point most effec tively. At one point on his nation-wide flight In the Interest of establish ing alr-mlndedness, Chamberlln met a father who expressed the wish to have his 11 -year old son take a short flight with the trans- Atluntic flyer. Before the take-off, according to Chamberlln, the fath er was given a short lesson In the ABM's of aeronautics. During the talk, the boy, standing by, regis tered the boredom of an expert with fundamentals of his specialty Ho knew nil the facts that his father was getting. Finally, Chamberlln and the boy took off. The ship was a dual con trol affair and in givo the young' ster a thrill, Chamberlln allowed hliu to hold tho "stick." This fall Ing, as a thrill producer, Chamber lln says ha lifted both hands In the air, the airman's signal to his co pilot meaning, "you fly it." And. the boy did. Of course, he did not make the landing, but while tho plane was In the air, the 11 -year old boy managed to do some very neat piloting. Literally, Chamberlln says, fly. Ing Is child's play. Judging by this experience, he is willing to prove it.
