The Daily Mail remarks that the
800 persons who supplied the funds
to purchase the whiskey are hardly
likely to get much return. Sir Brod
erlck is expected to arrive in Lon
don today or tomorrow.
It is recalled that the- baronet's
circulars inviting the public to par
ticipate in his ventures promised a
profit at the rate of 120 per cent.
The reported failure of his expedi
tion causes another paper, the Star,
to remark that "precious little sym
pathy need be wasted' on him and
his supporters, adding:

T. E. McMeans, is tho new Seattle
district manager, of the Oakland Mo
tor Car company.
Mr. McMeans began his automotive
career in 1904 with the Cadillac Motor
Car company, whom he served for six
years, principally in the position of
traffic manager. From 1910 to 1917
he was associated with the Studehaker
corporation. In different capacities.
Leaving Studebaker in 1917, he suc
cessfully conducted his own business
for six years, as president and general
manager of the Twin Valley Motor
compuny. Dodge Brothers dealers at
Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
His territory as Seattle district man
ager for Oakland includes the entire
states of Washington and Oregon, to
gether with the nortiiorn portion of
Idaho.

Of Vaudeville Tonight
A well rounded vaudeville and pic
ture hill closes tonight at the Hunt's
Craterian.
Alfred Times in "The Limit on
Wheels," is a Jumping act in which
Times makes his wooden cycle mount
stairs, hurdles over obstacles, and do
other daring feats of skill.
Miss Margaret Mantall, one of the
clever girls in the Victoria Trio puts
over wonderful imitations. Fay Strom
and Marie Broulette assist in one of
the most novel girl's acts appearing in
vaudeville.
Sanley Shaddick portrays the role
of "Fu Tong," a Chinese magician who
has been dead four hundred years, and
whose illusions were handed down
from father to son, until September,
1917, when Fu Tong the Sixth, while
playing an enKagementin England,
fc fell ' into the Thames river and was
rescued by Mr. Shaddick. Fu Tong
gave the secrets of hls'illusions to Mr.
Shaddick, who has Americanized the
net to the extent of adding singing and
dancing to its very wide scope of en
tertainment. Harry Berry has a whole bag full
of comedy stunts, and a lot of college
humor and songs to go with it. Miss
Keith, the feminine part of the duo Is
Introduced as a surprise, but we will
not spoil the pleasure of future au
diences by divulging a stage secret.
A. Martini upsets the old theory of
being ableto do only one thing well by
his exhibition of versatility. "His Lit
tle Barrel of Fun" Is a splendid act.

Although the holiday put them on
the peak with a half game margin,

the last game of the series today has
been postponed out of respect to the
late Brooklyn club president, Charles
H. Ebbetts. Members of tho Brook
lyn team will attend Mr. Ebbetts
funeral today.
Cleveland piled up its fifth straight
victory and increased its margin
over the Athletics to a full game,
but fifteen innings were required for
the Indians to subdue the Detroit
Tigers. 6 to 4. Ty Cobb made his
first appearance of the season at the
plate when he hatted in the seventh
for Pitcher Hollo way. He received
a pass.
Only two mher games were played.
Chicago and St. Louis teams of both
leagues dividing honors. The White
Sox rescued a slug fest by a two run
rally in the ninth against the
Browns, n to 10, and the Cardinals
were pitched to a 2 to 1 victory over
the Cuba by Sothoron.

103 A. F. & A. M. and other past
masters living In southern Oregon
wlU 4e the honored guests of the
lodge.
Work will begin in the nfternoon
and continue till six-thirty when a
banquet will be served. After the
banquet the past masters will confer
a Master Mason Degree on one candi
date. Past Masteu M. Purdin will
preside throughout. Past Master
Narregan who organized the lodge 34
years ago and served as its first pre
siding officer will act as senior
warden. W. II. McOowan will act as
junior warden and Elmer liicks ns
senior deacon. J Other, past' masters
who will bo present and ussist are
Messrs. Wilson, Fabrick, Lawrence,
Bishop, Woodford, Mays, Sweeney,
Johnsun, Hammond. Scheffel, New
man, Lane and others. Among them
are representatives of California,
Montana, Missouri, Idaho and Mich
igan, besides several different Oregon
lodges. All Master Masons of Med
ford and vicinity are expected to be
present and pay their respects to
those men who have made Masonry
what it is in southern Oregon today.
A special program has been arranged
and appropriate music will be fur
nished throughout, besides some
things which only past masters can
perform.

Special attonlion is being called to
the meetings being held in the Free
Methodist church, corner Tenth and
Ivy streets. The meetings began on
Sunday and are to continue over nnd
including the 3rd of May. During
these meetings there will be several
different ministers to assist.
On Sunday Rev. Jerome from Ash-
lnnd spoke both morning and even
ing. Last night Rev. Lillian Gray of
Eugene spoke. Mrs. Grny formerly
m-eached in this church.
Tonight somo members of the
clergy of the Southern Oregon Con
ference will speak. There is to be

Dick Posey Recital
On Friday Evening
The recital Friday evening nt the
Presbyterian church by R. P. Camp
bell, (Dick Posey), promises to be one
of pleasure for all who attend. Mr.
Campbell will recite new selections as
well as several of his older popular
numbers some of which will be by
request of his many admirers. Mr.
Campbell's poems have been one of
he leading features of the Lincoln
Day programs for years.
