The attempted coup was started
Saturday and there was violent fight

their arms and were confined in bar
racks. The revolt was led hy Major Filo

several hundred men, cavalry, artil
lery and infantry.
.Many of the revolutionists were
killed or wounded when regular
troops drew a cordon about their

casualties but they are said to have
been comparatively high for such a

Von HlndenbuiK who hitherto has re
fused interviews says Hcuter's corres
pondent at Hanover consented to re
ply to a questionnaire submitted hy the
correspondent. i
"The field marshal declined to un
swer a question as to whether he
would prefer to see the former kaiser
on" the throne to heiiiK himself presi
dent," says the correspondent.
Asked whether he was prepared to
simi a security pact guaranteeing the
frontiers of Krance and Helgium, ho
replied that thltt matter was still the
subject of international discussion and
therefore lie could not personally in
tervene. Asked whether he was of the opin
ion that the present eastern frontier
