Ho says there are 13 mtlliong of dollars loaned in Oregon to the ex-service men, $267,- 000 of which Is in jackson county, with 117 loans, mostly on city proper ty. There has bceoi $11,269 paid bacic to the state .by the boys in this coun ty and there has only been one de linquency. This is one of the best records in the state and U a high com pliment to the personal of ttie boys. Mr. Aird also paid a splendid com pliment to the loan committee, R. P. Cowgill, E. M- White and Vernon Vawter and Attorney W. M. Brlggs, and said there In a mistaken idea about the expiration time of applica tion for loans. The boys who have made tho initial application have un til Juno, 1927, to complete their appli cation. Colonel Aird commended the 248th machine gun squadron In the 91st fa mous Wild West division. It has a distinguished service cross issued by the United States, a Croix do Guerra Isued by the French government nnd two British medals of honor. OBITUARY MARTIN" Leroy Victor Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Martin passed away at their homv on Siskiyou heights this city, yesterday evening, aged IS years, 4 months, 14 days. Death came after a very brief 111 ness due to disease of the heart. He was born at Mt. Vernon, 111., Oct. 22, 1905, and leaves besides his parents three brothers and three sisters. Wil den, Forest and Clarence Martin of Medford; Icona and Edith, also of Medford and Mrs. Fred Freeman of Eureka, Cal., who Is on her way to Medford. He also leaves his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Martin of Medford. Deceased was a member of tho Mod ern Woodmen of America. Funeral services will be held at the Conger chapel at 2:30 p. m.
