There was quite an accumulation of first class and parcel post mail, and the postoffiee this morning bore a shortly hefore Christmas time appearance. The eastern mail was delayed and held up by the bad storm conditions around Portland and eastern Oregon. It seemed like Monday today to most folks, and in addition many had the usual after holiday grouch and such a dislike, for turkey or chicken and the trimmings that Ihey vowed never to taste the stuff again. Some time since last Friday, when three men were convicted of moonshine op erations, persons practically destroyed the machine belonging to Kern. The detour brldgo was threatened by high water, and as the new' bridge waB considered ready by local engi neers, a message was sent to Engineer Herbert Nunn, of the stale highway commission, who granted the request to open the bridge at this time. Berrian, superintendent of the Butte Falls fish hatchery took the first silverside eggs at the new dam, built about two miles from Eagle Point on Butte creek by Mr. Berrian. on Tuesday of this week. They were a fine lot of eggs and were taken to tho Butte Falls hatchery. A big run of silverside is also reported at the Savage Itapids dam near Grants Pass.
