The election was to choose two directors for three year terms on the school board. The two regularly nominated candi dates, John C. Mann and A. B. Cun ningham, well known business men, were practically unanimously elected, the former receiving 102 votes and the latter 100 votes. Four other men were voted for, their names being written in on the ballot, O. C. Hoggs receiving two votes, and John Carkin, O. F. Talner and C. M. Houston each get ting one vote. The lack of interest felt, in the elec tion and the light vote is regarded as rather a compliment to the present board as indicating general satisfac tion with its administration of the past year, when Mr. Mann served ns president of the board, he having been appointed to serve out the unexpired term of J. W. Wakefield, resigned. Mr. Cunningham will succeed Joseph O. Grey on the board, the tatter's term having expired. The record breaking vote of the school election last year was due to the lack of harmony in the schools the previous year and lack of sympathy at a large portion of the school patrons with the school administration. The past year has seen ha,rmony restored in Medford's school system. The new board will meet for re organization early In July. E MEN SWAMP THE MANHASSET, N.. Y June 21.
